Default Has anyone on the boards (Besides me) ever watched Queer As Folk?

I would still be watching it today if it weren't for my dad cutting Showtime off. No I didn't like it just cuz of the sex I actually liked the relationships....instead of both sexes breaking up it was either 2 females or 2 males.

Anyone ever watch the show or do u guys think it's "Disgusting?"

We moved in late November of 2000 and haven't had Showtime since. So I guess my answer would be no, I've never seen it.

Thumbs up

The UK version of 'Queer As Folk' first appeared on our TV screens in 1999. I watched every episode and have them all on DVD. The American version of the show which was aired on Showtime was an adaptation of our UK show.
I have seen both the US and UK versions of the show and I have to say that I did prefer the original UK version. Although the US version was still very entertaining.
I think the US version had more room to expand on the storylines. For one thing, the US version had (I think) 13 episodes whereas our version only had 6 (and our series 2 only has 2 episodes).
You see, gay life - in my perception, anyway - seems much different in the US that it is in the UK. That whole storyline in the US version about Emmet going to a support group to 'learn how to become straight' would simply never happen here cos noone in the UK is deluded or stupid enough to think that a gay person can be 'turned straight'. That whole notion is just insulting to me, to be honest.

Anyhoo, I don't want to get into gay politics here. My answer to the original question is yes - I have seen the US 'Queer As Folk' and I found it very entertaining. But I thought the original British version was much better.

AMC used to be a good channel (When they aired the 3 Stooges), but it's not all that great anymore. The only time I really watch it is around Haloween when they have the Rocky Horror Picture Show Marathon. I can never get enough of that movie, lol.

I saw the end of an episode because I was taping "The Chris Issak Show" for an (adult) friend.

Bisexual, not gay, and no it's not the same, and yes Emmet is hot! In the UK version Justin is named Nathan (Coincidence lol?)
