Guys,
What's up? I have to vent my frustration here. Actually my analog cable channels (2-99) come in fine but the digital tier channels (100 and above) are out. The picture keeps flickering on/off on those channels and it SUCKS! I called cable and they said that they can't send someone out until Thursday! ****e! We have a brand new digital box and I know damn well that it's a line problem! Why is it that if you are totally out of service that they will send somebody out right away (as they should) but if only part of your cable is out it takes 3-5 days for service? Damn! They got 1000 employees with nothing to do. Why can't someone just get in their big white truck and come out and replace the line? Actually, we have had cable for about 15 years and our service has been good with exceptions like these. It is frustrating as ****e when your cable goes out! (or even when PART of your cable goes out!) What are your experiences like with your cable (or satellite provider?) What I have noticed with several others that have digital cable is that sometimes the station's picture "breaks up in little pixles" intermittently. Several neighbors and friends have this problem, but when it happens it's usually fixed within a half-hour. Once in a blue moon, I have heard reports of a power-surge knocking out digital channels where you have to re-activate your terminal to get them back. Maybe all these things are just pitfalls that happen from time to time with the new technology. We just got upgraded in July. (Our phone lines are crap also so maybe this is a part of the same cause/effect) Sometimes I suppose it's hard to incorperate fiber-optic technology with "outside communications" from the 1950's! I just want my digital cable fixed! Jack |

I hate itw hen things like that happen. My local FOX station was pink tinted for over a year before it was fixed - I think this was a cable problem.

I fully sympathise with you mate. TV is my life and if I can't watch it I have a major freak-out!
I don't have cable, I have digital satalite (which is a million times better) and on the few occasions when I haven't been able to recieve it I have gone mad. Occasionally, if the weather is bad or if my digi-box is misbehaving, I get an on-screen message saying "no satelite signal is being recieved" and the screen will turn blue. You should have seen me the last time this happened - I was screaming at the TV "OH NO - NO YOU DON'T!!!!!!! DON'T F#CKING DO THIS TO ME NOW, YOU WEE B@$TARD!!!!!!" Just the thought of being without my 200+ channels kills me. TV is all I have - I can't live without it. I hope you get your cable fixed soon pal. |

Whoa, that sucks... especially since it's a weekend. There's nothing good to watch on Sat.'s, and Sunday without cable.
I also have digital cable, and I hate it when it breaks into little pixels. They also have a problem with local independent channels. It seems like my channels look worse (sometimes) on digital. :\ |

My satellite usually only goes out when it's raining really hard...or some damn rodent has used the cable for a teething ring. I get KTLA, and on my folks' receiver, it ALWAYS breaks up into pixels and the picture is static for awhile and all you can do is hear. Then it fixes it self a few seconds later. |

The nice thing about living high up in the mountains is that the cable almost never goes out, lol. Now in Chicago, that was another story.

Satellite is not better than digital cable. Digital cable gets all the same channels as satellite and is also capable of Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, with the proper box.
Sometimes my digital cable channels will pixelate, and worse a horrible screeching sound will come out of the right front speaker. Thankfully it's rare, but it sounds like someone's finger nails being raked over a chalk board. |
