Weezer singer's Harvard ID up for auction?

A Harvard identification card that allegedly belonged to Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo is up for auction on eBay. The starting bid is $1,000, with a "buy it now" price of $3,000.

The auction, titled "Weezer Rivers' Harvard ID. One Of A Kind" began on 01.13 and ends on 01.23. The listing features a large photo of the ID card. Even with the high price tag, the buyer must pay for all shipping and insurance costs, and the seller will ship internationally.

As of press time, there were no bids on the item, which is being sold out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas, according to the listing. When we contacted the seller, they declined to be interviewed. Cuomo and Weezer management also had no comment at press time on the ID card's authenticity. At press time there were no bids on the item.

The ID is signed on the back, includes a picture in the upper left-hand corner, and is stamped "Student" with a birthdate of "06/13/70" on the front. It was valid through "09/30/96."

Weezer's album, Maladroit, was named Number Six among Spin magazine's top 50 albums of 2002.
