Question about HDTV/Digital Cable
Hi Guys,
If any of you are high-definition TV/digital cable experts, please help me out because I can't get a straight answer from my cable company (Time Warner) We have digital cable and a very good (analog) TV set. I understand that you have to buy an expensive high-definition TV, have a high-definition cable converter, and watch a high definition TV signal to have true high-definition. (All three variables must be in place.) We currently have only 5 channels that offer high-definition on our digital cable system (NBC, ABC, PBS, HBOHD, and SHOWTIME HD) and right now it's not worth the $1,500-3000 for a new HDTV when only 5 channels have HD conversion. My question is, I know that you must have an HDTV converter/HDTV to recieve HD channels. But can you use a regular digital converter on an HDTV and be able to recieve all channels except those in the HDTV format? Or will a regular digital converter not work at all on an HDTV? Jack |
