LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - While not completely abandoning the use of regular people in their ads, during the American Music Awards on Monday (Jan. 12) night, Coke will unveil a new campaign showing stars like Penelope Cruz and Courteney Cox throwing back the carbonated beverage as well. Cox will appear in a commercial directed by David Fincher ("Panic Room," "Fight Club" ) showing her and real-life husband David Arquette splitting the last Coke in the comfort of their own home. A spin on the company's old slogan "The Real Thing," the new ads will be tagged with "Coca-Cola ... Real," implying that celebrities are just like us regular folks. Coke's new campaign gets a jump on Pepsi, whose long list of celebrity endorsers includes Michael Jackson, Madonna and Britney Spears. Its new spokesperson, Beyonce Knowles, won't debut until this spring. Her first 30-second spot will be directed by Spike Lee. The 30th Annual American Music Awards air Monday, Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. |
