i say the egg- because other species had been laying eggs before the first chicken appeared.

but people get mad when i use that logic! but ill still say the egg, just to be different.

That's true. I never thought of it that way. Because the question isn't phrased, "Which came first? The chicken or the chicken egg?" Because of that I'm going to say the egg but in the case of the chicken and the chicken egg I'll say the chicken. OK, I've confused myself now.

The egg came first - definately!
Because creatures evolve from other creatures the egg must've come before the chicken. Some odd, hybrid creature would've laid an egg, and from that egg would have come what we now know as a chicken.

It's a wierd question anyway. Don't think about too much cos I guarantee, it'll end up blowing your minds!
