Question Freddie Jr. & Chico

I wonder what is Freddie Prinze JR's take on Chico and the Man? I heard both that he thought it was wonderful that TV Land ( he may hate them now as I havent seen it there for awhile )would showcase the father he never knew.

I also read elsewhere on the net that he was upset that TV Land brought the show back. He felt that the show should have stayed mothballed.

If that is true, he is not alone. I know many who feel that once a star died, even under such tragic circumstances like the Sr. Prinze ( Bob Crane is another ) then the show should be taken off the tv. In other words its bad taste to laugh at someone who is no longer with us.

I dont share that view but I do know many who do. I believe it was Moe Howard from the Three Stooges ( could have been Larry Fine, its been a long time since I seen the interview with them ) they said they felt that way too.

Thanks for sharing that with us. I had no idea JR felt that way. I am very grateful CATM was shown on TVLAND again because if it hadn't I wouldn't have discovered Freddie. Back in the 70's I had watched the show like everyone else & enjoyed it but wasn't into Freddie (where was I LOL?!) Thanks to watching the TVLAND re-runs I got into Freddie. Hopefully the show has introduced a whole new generation to Freddie who'd never seen Freddie before . I have no problem with re-runs of shows with dead stars in them being shown again. It keeps their memory alive...

OMG bb, I just had to respond. It is a rare thing to find someone on the boards who lives in the same state as you, but from practically the same town!!!!!!!!! I work in Martinsburg and live in Berkeley County!!!!! Good to see another CLOSE West Virginian on these boards! And I agree with you. The show is still funny and I still laugh at the talent that was the man....this is the highest respect that we could give a person who spent his life, even if it was short, making people laugh. I know he is smiling at us, knowing we are still finding him funny!

Talking

Hi bb...... My take is that for something like 15 or 20 years I never saw the show again. I saw him in the 70's. With that huge gap in time I got curious to see him again and laugh with him again. So I applaud TVLand for bringing back the shows I grew up with. The majority of the old shows the people are deceased. Even the new shows. (Phil Hartman) plus a host of others. I could understand if Fred Jr. feels the way he does. but I miss Freddie.

I'm glad they brought the show back, too, even for only a little while. I think most of his fans feel that way.
I think Freddie would have wanted his show to go on, too.

True,I can understand why Jr. feels that way.Maybe because it makes him sad to watch his father on T.V. knowing that he's no longer with us.
