Post Hope To Find Out About Freddie From Arlo

Well this Sat my friend Arlo the singer is doing a show in PA near Philly. Since he sin't doing too many gigs near here in VA we going there to see him & are hitching a ride with a friend of his who lives in Northern VA several hrs North of us. I am so excited! Anyway, Arlo was at the Carter Inaugeration like Freddie does & I am hoping to ask him if he got to meet Freddie there & if so what he was like. If I find out I'll let ya'll know. I can't tell him that I am crazy about Freddie now but wil have to make out like I like CATM which is true. I LOVE the show! Cuz see Arlo might get kinda jealous if he knew I was nuts about Freddie. He wouldn't be jealous in a bad way. It's just he knows how devotedI am to him & if he kewn I was crazy about Freddie too & had become that way this yr he might think I'm gonna quit liking him or something, which I'm not & feel bad. It maybe hard to find out tho cuz last yr at this concert place when we were visiting with him after the show when he was meeting people, the workers at this place were kinda rude acting to us & some of Arlos other friends. They wer trying to herd us out like cattle. So I hope I get enough time to spend with him to ask him Freddie. I need to ask him about Freddie, & tell him a few other things. I hope I get enough time to tell him all that & ask about Freddie.

Well next Tues he's doing a local gig in my area & we'll be going to that! So that's chance #2! Wish me luck!

We leave Sat to go to the gig in Philly with his friend & come back home Sun. I may not be able to write on the boards then, & not sure about reading the boards either. But I'll get to read the boards for sure early that am before I go & of course Sun nite after we get back! If I don't get to read them while I am gone I'll be suffering withdrawal LOL!

Well Sat Nov 17 my friend Arlo the singer did a show in PA near Philly. He usually comes there every yr. Since he isn't doing too many gigs near here in VA we went there to see him & hitched a ride with a friend of his who lives in Northern VA several hrs North of us. We did that last yr too which worked out well for all concerned as her hubby doesn't go to too many gigs with her as even tho he doesn't mind her being friends with Arlo & going to the gigs, he's not really too interested in it & would rather watch sports. This way she doesn't have to go alone & we get to go to a show that is too far for us to go from our house.

So we drove to her house & visited for a bit & then we went onwards to the shows. When we got there we went to this Chinese Place near there & ate with her & some of Arlos other friends. Arlos friends insisted on paying for our dinner which was nice. We got to hang around with them & some other friends of his before the show. We also got to visit with the girl who sells the t-shirts & records of his for him at the shows & her twin sister.

After the show we were able to see Arlo & visit with him. While he met fans I took some pics of him Then we got to meet him. I asked Arlo if he'd met Freddie at the CARTER INAUGURATION or ever knew him. I explained that I liked CATM & that the re-runs had come back on TVLAND but were taken off & told him I had really gotten into the show. I didn't say I'd gotten into Freddie cuz I didn't wanna make him jealous LOL! I asked Arlo if he remembered CATM & liked. He said Yeah I think so & said he liked CATM. Cool! He was sorry that Freddie had died & had felt bad about it. I also asked Arlo if he'd met Freddie at the CARTER INAUGURATION & he said he doesn't remember meeting Freddie there so he thinks he didn't meet him or know him. I did find out from him folks were drunk when Freddie performed. & Arlo loves CATM too! He kept saying YOU GOT IT all nite LOL! & Told me I had too much Freddie on the brain. I think he figured out that I am obsessed with Freddie cuz he said that last yr I had been obsessed with something else & not this yr it was Freddie Prinze. He said what was I gonna be obsessed with next yr. He talked like he wasn't worried about Freddie cuz he was a dead guy. My hubby Mike said that right he's a dead guy & that I couldn't do much with a dead guy. Arlo said yeah that he was dead guy & couldn't hurt him & was no comptitition to him cuz he was dead. So I think he doesn't mind likeing Freddie & isn't jealous cuz he's dead. Now if he was alive then he'd feel jealous.

They shooed us out when it was time to leave so we went out & saw Arlo by his bus getting ready to get on & go home. We talked to him a few mintues & I played with his ponytail. He said he was cold & once on the bus wasn't getting back off cuz it was too cold. Mike had said he was cold. He had forgotten to bring a coat so I'd let him borrow one of mine. I told him I'd help him put it back on. Mike is a diabetic & so am I & Arlos friend we went with. He is on insulin but she & I are on pills. Evidently Mike was going into a low sugar attack there in front of Arlo & neither Arlo or I knew it. So Arlos friend she said she thinks he was going into a low sugar attack. I carried some sweets & orange juice with us just in case any of us went into a low sugar attack. So I got some orange juice & sweets & fed them to him. I was so nervous. He finally got okay & the low sugar attack wasn't as bad as some he's been in. We stopped off at a burger joint on the way back for some much needed food & then abck to her house. We went out late at nite with her hubby & son to see the meteror showers. We rode around in their van but didn't see any until we got back to her house.
The next day we got up & she amde us all breakfast. She plays guitar, autoharp & mountain (lap) dulcimer like I do so we had fun playing with her instruments. She & I played guitar together some. Mike filmed us. Then we had to go on back home & to the church Thanksgivng dinner at the church we go to.

Tues Arlo did a show in Richmond, an hr North of us-- our first local gig since 1993. He's only did 2 gigs in our area since we've known him. It was at a local conert theatre. We had a nice time. We went out to eat at the Chinese buffet before the show. It was very good. After we got to the Landmark Theatre which used to be the Mosque, we went looking for Arlo. He was already there before we were. We went walking all round the bus to find Arlo. We happened to run into him. We were able to talk to him for a few minutes. We welcomed him to Richmond. We told him this was a local show for us and this show was only an hour's drive from us, and we were very happy to have him in our area. He said he could only talk for a few minutes because he was going to get something to eat. We had told him in PA how excited we were that he was coming to the Nags Head, NC area & told him this again here in Richmond. We told him we had made plans with my parents to go down to Nags Head around the time of his show there and stay there a week then at the condoe they have down there (When they don't stay in it it get's rented out to tourists) and see him there. He told us he was all excited about Manteo and was looking forward to going there. We told him we were excited too. He told us he was going to have to go eat & would see us later. I asked him if we could see him later & said yes he'd see us then so I wished him good luck on the show & off he went to onto the bus to eat. & We walked around & saw Arlo's bus driver Dennis & said HI to him awhile. He said Sue his firend who we'd went to his show in PA with had e-mailed him about Mikes diabetes attack he had around Arlo at PA & evidently Arlo was concerned about it. We found it could often picked a out from Dennis that Arlo's boy Abe was there & wasn't there to sing, just to help load up the stuff. We never did get to see him...

So we went to our car to get our stuff & then sit inside to wait on the show. Jessica who sells the t-shirts & stuff for Arlo & her twin sister Jennifer were both their & they sold the stuff for Arlo. They pulled another joke on us with Jennifer acting like she was Jessica. We watched them setup the stuff they were selling for Arlo. Their parents didn't come this time. After the show was over they were gonna go visit some friends in Blacksburg. Finally the show began. The Symphony came out & did a few songs & then Uncle Arlo! We had seats in front row center right in front of the man! An orchestra pit which was empty was in front of us making him further from us than he should've been. It was a great show! Arlo's cousin Petie & his wife Martha & their disabled boy Eric who all live in Richmond& we've gotten to know thru Arlo & the shows came & were there. They were on front row some seats down from us. The guy who sat next to us was really nice. He talked to us & he's been to a lot of the Arlo shows we've been to! He is going to Manteo, NC too & like us is very excited about it. He said he went to a country music show down there & it's a sit where you want to place & really nice with the stage nice & low. The show was with the Symphony. He does his own songs but the symphony backs him up. The symphony did a few songs of their own (yawn) & then Arlo! During intermission we met one of the fiddle players in the symphony & told him they had done a nice job with Arlo. Even though the show was a great time, after the show was not very great.

We went to meet Arlo at the stage & the concert workers told us that they don't let the singers meet people at the stage. I asked where to go to meet Arlo & they said we'd have to go outside & to try to catch him by his bus. with So we went outside to around where the bus is. This dumb concert worker man said we couldn't go around there cuz they wouldn't let the singers meet people. I asked if about meeting him & they said he'd have to have the bus come out there. Petie & Martha & Eric came out to find Arlo too. When they went towards the bus the concert worker man (a black) wouldn't let them go either. They tried to explain they did put to death but were Arlo's cousin & his family but to no avail. The man was kinda rude. Yuck! Petie & Martha said they had run into Abe earlier & he said Arlo was sick & had a bad sore throat & in fear of losing his voice & not feeling well. So when he'd visit us he'd stand on the bus to meet us. Petie said that if Arlo didn't come out to see us it wouldn't be his fault but would be the concert places fault & we agreed with him. I said it was a shame they wouldn't let him meet his own family & friends So they wouldn't let him come out & meet us. It broke my heart as I have waited so long for him to come back to Richmond At least I got to see him for a few minutes before the show. If not it would've been even worse! My sore throat I had from my allergies is even worse & Mikes now got a cold too! So Arlos sore throat is going around. Yuck!

& More bad luck beset us. I had parked in the handicapped parking & had Mikes handicapped tag sitting out. When we got back to the car there was a ticket from a fuzz for $100 saying we were illegally parked in the handicapped parking. I know for a fact we had the handicapped tag up! So now I gotta call tomorrow & tell them we did too have the handicapped tag up & ask how to get the parking ticket dropped. They will not get one red cent!!!! Why don't they chase criminals instead of ticketing folks who are obeying the law! Yikes!!!!

On the way back home we both needed to eat again esp. Mike so we went & ate at the Dennys in Chester. Breakfast... We were cold & it sure was warm for us.

That is our adventure & we had fun!

WoW Cheryl....... What an adventure! Freddie would get jealous of you running after Arlo like that. LOL...... As long as you have your handicap tag you're all right! Don't sweat it......

Arlo is Arlo Guthrie who is a folk singer who was popular in the 60's & 70's. His 2 biggest hits were ALICES RESTUARANT (in 1967 which was made into a movie in 1969) & CITY OF NEW ORLEANS (from 1972) & he was in the 1969 Woodstock rock festival... ALtho I remember those 2 songs & thought they were nice, I wasn't a fan of his back then yet. I became a fan of his in 1988 after renting the movie made of his song ALICES RESTUARANT in 1969. In 89 we went to our first show of his & met him & ever since then whenever he comes to here in VA or near there like NC, MD, DC etc we always go. My hubby & I have gotten to be friends with him thru going to his shows We'll have to hear some of your experiences with Steven Tyler. Dream On! (A cool Areosmith song...)

hmmmmm....EXPERIENCES with Steven ..boy.. could I get in trouble for this! LOL Just kiddin folks...I had a friend who was a rigger/roadie with the management team for Aerosmith...which is how I got my foot in the door and got to go back stage to many many of the shows...Lots of fun, lots of good times...I would be happy to share them.. The first time I met the guys I was all "rocked Out" - wearing an all leather outfit with thigh high boots.... I was soooo nervous.... I must have been white as a ghost because the drummer Joey Kramer bumped my elbow and said "Smile, look like your having a good time" I nearly fell over! lol and I said "Oh I am" to which he replied "I can see your knees shakin thru those leather boots!"

SOunds like you had some neat experieicnes with Aeorsmith like I did with Arlo. One time I wore a leather outfit to one of Arlos shows. It was leather flarelegged pants like they had in the 60's & a jacket to match. It fit in good cuz it was a rainy day & cold...
