Post Drugs...and Bi-Polar disorder

Well, i've read alot of posts & I do agree - people who happy do not turn to drugs..he definately had problems before the drugs..and as for being bi-polar..that is a distinct possibility. Remember today people are diagnosed and treated for bi-polar, manic depressent, ADHD....he could have suffered from any of these or all of them. I have read many articles speaking of his being hyperactive with terrible mood swings.. If it had been now a days, he would have had a better chance at recovery.. back then, you were just an addict...

anyone else here ever follow Robert Downey Jr. I really like him.. he is very talented and very cute too....but with all the mess he has been in, the last time he went into a rehab was a year ago and it seems to be working FINALLY, because they are treating him for the disorders I mentioned above... and not just as an ADDICT... it makes all the diffence in the world. Now he is receiving the correct medication...NOT SELF-MEDICATING. How I wish Freddie had that same opportunity.

I agree! and I Like Robert Downey Jr. too.Its nice to hear hes getting proper treatment this time and its great its working. If people would stop condemming addicts and search for the problem so many lives would be saved.Especially back in the 70's.If Freddie was in this era things also may have been different.Who knows I think it was a combonation of a lot of things and he went over the edge.I think the divorse may have been the final straw.I got that impression from Marias book when Freddie last talked to her.

I wish that also.
For some reason,I think that he had those same moods while he was still in New York before he made it big.It had to have stemmed from something,Maybe something happened in his past which scarred his soul.

Also,I read that he was doing drugs way before he became famous(Almost overdosed at 17 years old)so obviously,Something had been wrong from that point on.I used to think that he got into all of that after moving to Hollywood but since I've read more info on him,It seems that he was having problems way before that.

From what I read how the overdose happened was he was in love with a girl in high school named Anne (Ann?)("Nani" "Nani" was Freddie's nickname for her) Sadlier (Sadler?) & was very much in love with her. She broke up with him & it hurt him so much that he cried his eyes out & was even crying over the phone to her when talking on the phone to her. Poor baby cried his eys out. He was so devastated by her breaking up with him that he tried to commit suicide by od'ing on pills. Thank God they found him & saved him in time. He had to go to the hospital overnite & have his stomach pumped.

The drs never told his folks he really desperately needed help for that. I think they just sent him to a psychiatrist who didn't do much for him. & They never let his parents know the results of that mental test he took which indicated mental problems. This is why his mom was so afraid of him marrying Kathy & so concerned. I think she was afraid the same thing might happen again. & Sadly it did & this time he wasn't saved...
