Default Why is this show so underrated?

We know about I Love Lucy getting a lot of publicity but how come this show, as well as Here's Lucy, doesn't get a lot of recognition?

I don't know. I do know that I thought The Lucy Show was better than I Love Lucy. It was more modern and had great characters.

I have never watched The Lucy Show or Here's Lucy so I can't really make a judgement. What I do know is what I said in the first post of this thread.

Great question! I am positive that every die-hard fan of Lucy's at one point or another has wondered that same question. I know I have (plenty of times!).
One of the reasons I think this show doesn't get the recognition it deserves is because people really don't know a whole lot about the show. It is never shown on a national network and remains in the closet for the most part while I Love Lucy is constantly in reruns. Plus, whenever something gets mentioned of Lucy they automatically think I Love Lucy and thus forgetting about her other shows. Besides those, it could be the quality that is contained in each show like the characters, the writing, the storylines, ect. Then there's the age factor: I Love Lucy came first and The Lucy Show came second. People were most familiar with I Love Lucy from the start thus putting The Lucy Show in jeopardy of being "known". I guess it all boils down to this: I Love Lucy had the advantage and The Lucy Show didn't.

I like this show better than ILL. I've seen about 3/4 of the episodes, and I love it.

Well as previously stated, TLS and HL isn't shown as much on national t.v. The last time for either one was 1999. Also, ILL gets so much exposure and is so popular it kind of covers the other shows up. Also, many try to unfairly compare TLS and HL to ILL which is unfair.

"I Love Lucy" was such a tough act to follow, that I think many feel that "The Lucy Show" pales in comparison to it.

I happened to be introduced to "The Lucy Show" before I ever knew there was "I Love Lucy". I was born in the mid-60's, and when I was a small child, "The Lucy Show" had a prime spot in morning reruns, while "I Love Lucy" was buried somewhere.

I also feel that many Boomers, who tend to be in charge of T.V. networks these days were never big Lucy fans. I have heard some people in that age group resent that she was taking pies in the face instead of addressing social issues of the day. I'm sure not every Boomer feels that way, but many do.

As was once mentioned in a different Lucy thread somewhere, most people think that this & HL are just palid, silly offshoots of I Love Lucy, instead of thinking of them as classic 60s/70s sitcoms. It's really a shame that they are not played on a national scale (Hello Hallmark - enough Parry Mason already!!), because these really are great shows...

Lately, i've been watching more Lucy shows and Here's Lucy eps instead of those classic I Love Lucy's that i know by heart! What a great trip down memory lane they all are, i'd forgotten how great they were.
