Default Downey: I Missed Out on Calista Reunion

I found this at imdb.com

Recovering drug addict Robert Downey, Jr hoped to rekindle his romance with Calista Flockhart - until Harrison Ford entered her life. Downey, 37, went out with the slimline actress when the two were starring in Ally McBeal - but the relationship collapsed due to his persistent drug problems. And the Chaplin star's hopes of a reconciliation as soon as the slight star met Ford last year - and soon fell in love. He says, "I had the chance of a reunion, but that was blown out of the water." Flockhart, 38, has been with the Indiana Jones star since early 2002, despite their 22-year age gap. Downey adds, "Once Harrison came on the scene that was it, but I tell myself not many guys can compete with Harrison Ford."

That's too bad. I think Calista and Robert had the right chemistry. I just don't think Harrison and Calista go very good together. It sounds like he really does miss her, but at least he isn't the type to try and break up the relationship. You know how Hollywood is with relationships.

Ah well, like they say, You snooze, you lose.

And in Rob's case, you snooze after passing out in some strange hotel room after shooting heroin with a horse tranquilizer/valium/anphetamine chaser with the cops and the National Inquierer banging on the door, and then you lose...

I would have liked to have seen Calista and Robert together too. I don't know if I even knew that they were dating. I might have known but forgot.
Calista seems like the sensible type, and perhaps she felt Robert was too unstable to commit to, especially after he messed up while on the show a few times. I know that his 7-year, live-in relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker ended because of his problem with drugs. It ended his marriage after that as well, to the mother of his son.
I've always felt sad about Robert Downey Jr. I think he's enormously talented, and I always figured I'd just hear one day that he died. I think many people felt that way every time he got busted or whatever.
For now, he's doing well, and I hope it stays that way. There's a sweetness about him. It's too bad his problem has ruined his relationships. He's paid quite a price.

I had no idea Robert had a relationship with SJP.

Yes, the man is very talented. I just hope he has once and for all ended the addiction. Stopping something like that and ending it all together takes so much courage. I doubt if a person who has an addiction can wipe it out all together and not fall off the wagon at least once or twice.

Robert Downey Jr. is an extremely gifted actor. Some of his movies are top notch such as Less than Zero. The problem is Hollywood continues to go easy on him and forgive him for everything he's done. There should be a thing called tough love.
