Default What episode defines TGG??

There has to be one episode in mind that just sums up the series... the girls... the cheesecakes. One episode has to stick out as having it all. It doesn't need to be your favorite, but what's the episode that you could send to someone who had never seen the show and say "THIS is the Golden Girls..."

When they're all in bed together! The heater went out and they all tried to keep warm with Sophia's electric blanket. It really seemed like they were all a family then because even though they kept bickering with eachother, they knew that they were all welcome to share the same bed so none of them would have to freeze!

Talking

The episode that I almost made myself ill by laughing at, when I first saw it, was A Little Romance, where Rose dates the "shrimp" Dr Jonathan Newman! Love the following line when Sophia sees Jonathan...

Sophia: Dorothy, can I see you for a minute! That guy over there, is he a midget?
Dorothy: Yes, Ma!
Sophia: Thank god, I thought I was having another stroke!

I defy anyone NOT to laugh at that!

Default A Favorite Episode......

One of my favorite, funniest episodes is when the girls decide to go away to a resort for a weekend, only to find out that it is a nudist camp! Well, much to their horror, they retreat to their hotel room, only to finally decide that they will "go for it" - so they all head downstairs to dinner, in the nude, only to find out that at this nudist colony, everyone DRESSES for dinner! I was laughing so hard - I just loved it!

BuMp!

I didn't mean, necessarily, a favorite episode, but rather one that shows all the characters at their best acting ability.

I think any of the flashback episodes would define TGG. They show the girls acting all different ways - funny, happy, sad, angry. In other words, flashbacks display their talent in all areas and shows how they switch emotions throughout the show.

I have stuck this thread as part of the "Golden Threads" idea...

and I agree with whoever said "The Way We Met"... one of the best episodes ever.

I also thought "Grab That Dough" and "One Flew Out Of The Cuckoo's Nest" were very defining episodes also.

The one when Sophia's son, Phil, dies. That is an awesome episode.

The one when Rose is tested for HIV. IMO, that is trully a great episode.

And the episode "The Way We Met". I think
it's a classic and hilarious.

Personally, I think these three episodes show each of the womens' true personality, whether it be dramatic or comical. It's who they are, how they are
and how the show is. JMHO!!!!

Talking Re: What episode defines TGG??

I really like a lot of TGG episodes. Some of my favorites are Scared Straight, Stan Takes a Wife and all sorts of them.

They are so hilarious.

I definitely agree about the "bed" episode - great choice there.

What about the episode (this one was shown on Living TV recently) where it's discovered Dorothy might not be Sophia's daughter so they go to the hospital and get blood tests? That ep's wonderful for Dorothy/Sophia moments.
