Britney Calls Cops To Escape L.A. Deli
1 hour, 23 minutes ago

(1/9/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- All Britney Spears wanted was some food. But when she pulled to up to Jerry's Deli in Los Angeles in her $150,000 Mercedes SL-600 white convertible on Sunday (January 5), what she got was mayhem.

The pop superstar and two female friends just wanted to drop in and eat, but instead she was mobbed by fans who spotted her. It was too much for her bodyguards, and local police were called in. Spears and her entourage were then escorted out of the restaurant to her car.

Spears was very visible all weekend in Los Angeles--she was spotted with actor Vin Diesel (news) on Saturday night (January 4) at the Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel, after recording earlier in the day with Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst.

Spears has been nominated for two Grammys (news - web sites) this year: best female pop vocal performance for her single "Overprotected," and best pop vocal album for her third release, Britney. The 45th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 23 at New York's Madison Square Garden.

-- Darryl Morden, Los Angeles

I would hate that. It would suck so bad to be mobbed everywhere you went. I couldnt deal with that!

You can say that again. It'd be cool meeting your fans, but you never know what kind of fans you'll get. I mean some of them might be stalkers and I just wouldn't want to put myself out front and center for that kind of stuff.

I'm sure Britney can't really do much without mobbing scenes. That's how it was with Elvis. He had to rent places in order to watch a movie or whatever and not be bugged by fans.

Red face

Regular non- star people get stalked. Imagine if you were a star like Brittney? It's a little scary.........

Jennifer Love Hewitt had a stalker too. Really, I'm sure every celebrity has one, even if they dont know about it.

They really do have it sooooo hard.

There are good, and bad things about being famous. Unfortunately most of them are bad.
