Default Hang Out With The Petries Anytime!

In December, Pickles Sorrell posted the topic, "Look What I Found This Morning". It was for a Yahoo group website called, "Petries And Friends" . Since then I've joined the group and what a great time we're having! Thanks, Pickles!
Basically, we're roleplaying as though we are in the black & white, 1960's world of Rob and Laura Petrie and their friends, and ad-libbing as we go. But we need more people! Who would you like to be from the show? Any character will do. Or you could make up one, if you'd rather.
If you really love the show and it's characters, have a vivid imagination, and a good sense of humor, you really should log on and join in! How frequently you post is up to you. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Steve,

for posting that!! I'm really enjoying the roleplay (esp. now that I have a husband ) but we need more people. We still need: Buddy, Sally, Richie, Alan, Mel, Millie and Jerry. As well as any and all made-up characters anyone wants to do! Pleas join; we'd love to have you!

I'm sure glad you two are there Its been ALOT of fun and I'm looking forward to it really picking up! I've been waiting for Buddy to show up but its a real blast! I'd like to see Buddy, Mel, Sally, Jerry, Millie and even Alan get there as quickly as possible! I really feel I lucked out finding that place. And I'm glad you both showed up to liven up the place lol! Everyone else here is really missing out on a great time!

Gee, I'd like to join as Mel but I'm having unexpected anxiety about joining. I think I'm fishing for some reassurance. (Maybe I'm experiencing vicarious "Mel-nutrition"?)
Somebody needs to drag me into this because it sounds like fun!

Ok, reassurance coming up! LOL You're welcome to join, I'm sure you'd do really well as Mel. The only thing is, we don't have a Buddy yet, so I don't know how that would work. But I will tell you that the group's a lot of fun. Our story's picking up nicely, as I'm sure the others can attest. We've got Laura (played by yours truly) getting a part-time job as a receptionist in a law firm.

Our cast is doing a really good job all around, and we seem to be getting along well! There's always room for more people!

Yeah, I worried about that myself. Mel without Buddy (or Alan, at least) requires a unique angle to make it work. I think most people look forward to (and expect) the kind of exchanges that occur between Buddy and Mel.

Well you could always come in as Buddy, or even Richie lol. It's up to you, I just want you to know we'd love to have you!

Well, TVgen62,
Before you completely talk yourself out of the idea of joining, consider this; you/we could write *around* Buddy as though he were already there.
For example, we have no Sally either, but you (Mel) could come into the writers' office and say, "Rob, I don't mind coming to speak to you and Sally in person about the show's progress, but I think you'll have to translate for IT, that I'll not continue to tolerate being insulted whenever I'm here."
Then Rob would say, "Buddy, could Mel just come in here, and have you relax with the baldy jokes for one *shining* minute? Oh, sorry Mel! I mean, what was it you wanted to say?"
It could work fine that way for quite a while, TVgen62. This would accomplish two things: Others might be encouraged to join by seeing more new members coming in, and also, you'd get the part of Mel, as you'd like to, instead of waiting and possibly seeing someone else take the part. Think about it.
By the way, with all of my adoration for Laura, I just had to be, and proudly am, Robert S. Petrie!

Yeah, TVgen62! Please join us! Mel could very much work out with or without Buddy! Mel's a funny guy all to himself And like the others said, if you dont think you could swing it being Mel? Then be someone else! There's a whole gang of characters to choose from! But think of this, if none of our words encourage you enough, Rob (Steve) is the only guy there, so far...he needs the back-up LOL! It really is alot of fun...I look forward to going to that board everyday...in fact, its the first place I go when I find time to get on the computer!

So, c'mon...what'chya scared of? Nobody bites on that board!

That's great! You don't need to do anything in particular except join up. The characters we need are: Buddy, Sally, Alan, Mel, Richie and Jerry. You can pick any one of those people to be, or make somebody up. Let us know who you're playing so we can work you into the storyline!
