Lucy's Teeth as radio receiver?? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I once heard a story that in real life Lucy was driving on an LA freeway and "picked up" a radio signal or radio station in her teeth (metal fillings acting as diodes, I guess). Is there any truth to this tale?

Yes, it was during the Second World War and she was driving along and heard it so when she told people about it, they told her to report it to the police, she did, and they traced it to a gardener, Japanese man, who was spying out of a shed near where she had first heard the beeps! Lucy saves the world, news at 11! Sounds like a plot from one of her shows, doesn't it? It was from the fillings in her teeth, the material used picked up the signals in Morse code!

Wow! That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard! Can you imagine what she must have said when she reported it? "Yeah, I heard it through my teeth!" Freaky.

I think they even used a variation of it in one of the plots on her shows, can't remember which one though, LOVE THAT PICTURE RICKY, ONE OF HER BEST!
