Default Who thinks Sanford was funnier that Sanford and Son?

To me the spinoff Sanford, was much funnier than Sanford and Son because Kyle, the guy who replaced Lamont was very much overweight and that made the jokes much funnier from Fred Sanford. Fred's fat jokes was the best but the term dummy became stale. Actually i never thought it was funny and the fact that Lamont was not funny or funny looking made the show a little dull sometimes. But with Kyle, he was funny and funny looking which made the show Sanford more entertaining. Sanford still had all the other characters such as Rollo, Aunt Esther, Bubba, and Grady which is confusing to me why it did not last. But it would have been nice to see atleast one guest appearance by Demond Wilson.

here is a scene from Fred and Kyle
Kyle was fed up with his diet and went crazy

Kyle: I need some salt, I need some grease, I CAN"T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!

Fred: You know that saying you sure are beautiful when you get mad?

Kyle: YEAH!!!!

Fred: That don't have nothing to do with you-LOL LOL

My cable company has never had any station that "Sanford" (not Sanford/Son) has aired. Did it ever air in syndication?

I watched it a couple time at my grandma's house around 1997 when BET reran it. It aint funny as S&S.

I've never seen it either. Fat jokes can be funny sometimes, but I caught the episode of S & S where some of Fred's relatives come down to visit and the teenage daughter is a bit overweight. Some of the jokes were amusing, but it just didn't make into a great episode. Sanford might be another example of that episode of one fat joke after another and it just isn't that funny if you have them one after another. The S & S episode just centered on fat jokes and I like a few other jokes mixed in with other jokes. Just my 2 cents.

P.S. Can't judge Sanford all the way because I've never seen the show so you guys can take my opinion like a grain of salt on this subject.

Well see Fred was already a riot and the fact that he was living with the overweight guy made the show EXTRA funny because the show still had Aunt Esther, Grady, Bubba, and a new addition-Cal. Also Cal imo, was funnier than Lamont, lamont was a waste of space on the Sanford and Son Set. Another fuuny scene, Cal was trying to lose weight so to make him feel better Fred lethis pants out 6 inches to make it look like he lost weight.

Cal: Look at these pants Fred they are falling off of me

Fred: Yeah I know Cal, you look good. You can pose for Jet, not the magazine the AIRPLANE!!!-LOL
