Question More time to edit posts

It would be good if a person had more than a minute or whatever it is to edit their posts. Is there a way it can be reset so a poster has maybe 15 minutes?

Ooh, I agree. God, at times I have to correct my posts around 3 or 4 times. Even then I don't catch all the mistakes. It would be better to have more time to edit.

I know. It seems that no matter how much I proofread a post before hitting the reply button, I find a typo. Then I'm faced with the question: Do I leave the typo in or fix it and have that stupid,

Yep. After I've edited for like the 4th time, I just close out the window. I bet every post I've made since I got here has got some kind of error. I bet most of them I edited a few times and just closed them out and that explains some of the errors.

Well, this is edit #2.

Exactly, whenever I try to edit one of my posts, I find the little passage on the bottom of my screen. The thing is, once I edit it a few times it ends up showing up, and then, I find out I still have to make more corrections. Since I can't preview it, while I editing it, it hard to see all the mistakes I made. I too would like to have more time to edit my posts.

I believe it's 5 minutes which is plenty of time to 'preview' your post and edit it.

The 5 minute rule is in effect for trivia purposes, otherwise a person could edit their post and nobody would know (except me).

Note: it was 1 minute, I don't remember setting it to that so now it is 5 minutes.

I'll be darned. I always feel like a hopeless dummy when I proofread the heck out of my post, send it off, and then find that I still screwed it up. Nice to know that I'm not alone. Anyway yeah, it would be nice if we had a better chance of editing without the telltale 'edited by...' thing attaching itself to our flubs. I highly recommend that you all use that preview at least once per post. That has saved me a number of times. And when I do that I try to jot down the typos as I see them so I'll be more likely to relocate them when I edit.
If I am going to post a particularly long reply, or one that requires thinking about what I'm writing beyond gut level I write it in wordpad. Wordpad is larger font so I'm much less likely to make or miss typos.

It doesn't seem like five minutes but I never really paid that much attention to the time factor. All I know is that the 'edited by...' thing pops up when I edit.

Thanks TJ...5 minutes is better than 1 minute. How about 10?

Wow I didn't realize that your edits were timed. Fortunately iv'e never timed out, so it doesn't really make a difference to me. I usually proofread what I wrote directly after writing to make sure I didn't make any mistakes, so I rarely ever need to edit.

Some people have superb proofreading skills, and fortunately for you, you're one of them.
For me, I can read the stupid thing until I'm seeing double, but 8 out of 10 times, I find a mistake.
Makes me nuts...or I should say nuttier, lol.

There is no time limit for editing your posts, you could edit one from 2 years ago if you wanted. It is now just 10 minutes before the dreaded 'Last edited by' line appears.

It's 10 minutes now? I thought it was 5. That's great, thanks.

It won't affect the past posts but at least it will help all the future posts.

I'm just loving the extra time. No more sweatin' bullets when hitting the reply key.
