Post Help Needed

When you need help, who do you go to but your Freddie family?? I am asking for something unusual and hope you can all help me. My brother will be going thru cancer treatment pretty soon and I need receipes for quick easy meals that are soft in substance. He has had to have 15 of his teeth removed in preparation for radiation and chemo and so, being the horrible cook that I am, I need help in coming up with ideas of things he can eat. They need to be quick and easy because I prepare them on my lunch hour and put them in the oven on low
heat so when I get home from work the meals are ready for me to take to him and my mom. I know this board is about Freddie, and I would never take away from that, so if you can e-mail me any receipes or ideas I would appreciate it. My e-mail address is
chicoprinze22@hotmail.com. I'm not crazy, just desperate!!

Thanks for all your help!
Macca

Hmmm, some things that come to mind are the prepackaged, microwavable meals for one. I got some of those "bowl apetites" made by Betty Crocker; they have things like pasta alfredo and flavored mashed potatoes, and other stuff. Also, those microwavable mac & cheese ("easy mac") is quick and easy and tastes pretty good!

Chemo can wreak havoc on your stomach, so I would not get anything too spicy or greasy.
Also, when when some people aren't feeling too well, they tend to like sweet foods better than anything else; or "comfort foods" that they liked as a child.

Maybe cruise the internet for recipies of casseroles that are easy to make and easy to chew. I cant think of any right now...

I'm sorry to hear about your brother's illness! I'm sure he feels grateful to have a sis to take care of him through this difficult time.

Macca - I am so sorry to hear about your brother. You are a very good sister. How about mash potatoes and gravy, microwave pizza for one (It's soft), The mac and cheese sounds good for the microwave, They also have the rice medley for the microwave. They have soups that you can heat fast. Rice, chocolate, vanilla pudding in the snack packs for dessert. Good Luck!!!

Macca, I too am sorry to hear about the difficult time you and your brother are going thru...I know all too well just from what you have shared with me.
All the ideas I was going to suggest have already been mentioned. The "bowl appetites" are wonderful and filling. I ate those when I had my wisdom teeth pulled and they were a God-send. You and Rick are in my prayers and you'll be getting an e-mail from me soon. I need to tell you why I haven't been online for awhile...it's not why you think...trust me on this one. Luv ya lotzzz, girl!

Cool

Macca,
I am sorry to hear of your brother's difficult journey ahead. I've sent off some recipes to your e-mail. Soft food is a neccesity in our household and making it tasty is a fun challenge for me. I hope they are helpful. I tried to send you a variety of tastes. If you let me know what type of food your brother enjoy's I can send some that are suited to his preferences. May angel wings carry your family through this time with ease and comfort.

Thumbs up

Macca I am sorry too that your brother has to go thru chemo treatments. Some people are affected by them differently than others and I hope his are relatively easy for him.
A friend of mine just recently went thru chemo treatments and it made him very nauseated for a while. The only thing he could keep down were those liquid drinks.
They have 250 calaries in each can and they come in vanilla, strawaberry, chocolate and some even banana and other flavors. I have a son with cerebral palsy who can only eat through a g-tube and have only liquid feedings. He has been having these feedings 4 times a day for almost 10 years now and he maintains his weight nicely. It coats the stomach so medicines won't irritate it and it makes you feel as full as if you had a regular meal.
My best wishes to your brother (and you) during this difficult time.

Macca, I am very sorry that your brother is having to undergo chemotherapy. I am praying that he will soon be in remission. You are a great sister. Everyone has given wonderful suggestions. I wanted to mention the Ramen noodles, they can be prepared in five minutes. They have a flavor packet that is very high in sodium, so you may want to omit it and just use cheese to add flavor. Or you can use 1/2 of the seasoning packet to cut down on all the sodium. They have a variety of flavors and are very filling.

Your CATM/Freddie Family is with you.
