Fonzie acts so strange in the first seasons....he hardly talks! Anyone else notice? I've been viewing them on this local channel...

He was supposed to be the thug in the first season, not really a big character. But he really opens up later on. In the peak seasons, he was a great guy!! You have a wonderful man, CollegeGirl!

But back then the focus of the show was supposed to be on Richie & Potsie so they didn't need Fonzie to be so cool.

Well, Fonzie was supposed to be the ultra cool James Dean clone: quiet, but when he talked it was so cool that it left an impact on you. He was the loner/rebel who did things because HE thought it was cool and because HE wanted to, and not because it was what was expected by the community. He was the strong, independent type. Fonzie and I have talked a lot about this, and it seems to me that it stemmed mostly from his feeling alone in the world. The fact that his parents abandonned him and left him to pretty much raise himself shaped him to become the kind of person who relied only on himself. Later, Richie, Ralph, and Potsie persuaded him to open up more. Their friendships with him helped to change his outlook on life.

That is the most inspiring analyzation of Fonzie I have ever read. You are an amazing writer!!

Thanks, I'm a trained professional analyzer. The writing part just follows. *LOL* But, I find Fonzie such an amazing, inspiring person. He has so many sides that can be explored.

I believe that she is very much engaged to Fonzie. Maybe not Henry Winkler, but Fonzie. These characters don't exist in real life, but we still believe that they manage to live out their lives somehow. I don't think the gang ever grew up. In my head, they're still sitting there in Arnold's...
