Post These 2 guys should be deported

Please will someone get rid of these 2 *******s. We do not want them in America.

The Rev. Jerry Falwell and religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said the United States was vulnerable to this week's terrorist attacks because the nation has insulted God and lost divine protection.

``God Almighty is lifting his protection from us,'' Robertson said in a four-page statement issued Thursday by his Christian Broadcasting Network.

``We have imagined ourselves invulnerable and have been consumed by the pursuit of ... health, wealth, material pleasures and sexuality.''

Falwell, a Baptist minister and chancellor of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., said Thursday on Robertson's religious TV program ``The 700 Club'' that he blames the attacks on pagans, abortionists, feminists, homosexuals, the American Civil Liberties Union (news - web sites) and the People for the American Way.

I can't believe I am going to say this, but, I too was disturbed by those comments made by Falwell and Robertson. We actually agree on something, Ed.
What a sad misinterpretation of the love God has for all of his creations. God is God...he is not human. He is not led by the emotions that govern us as humans, we can not insult him, he will never lift his hand of protection as if he needed to "punish" us. That is not who or what God is.
This happened because of our human free will. Free will to be judgemental, unloving, and filled with hatred and intolerance. The people of the world who choose to incorporate those feelings/traits into their being as all the terrorist factions of the world do are at fault.
As someone who has a deep core faith in God I weep at, once again, the tragic misrepresentation of his true loving supernaturalness which we as humans can not fully fathom.
"Father, forgive them for they know not what they do."

Sad

Just my two cents worth, but many times in the Old Testament God removed His protection and allowed the human free will of the Israelites and their enemies to prevail. The Israelites began to worship other gods and as a direct result divine protection was lifted. They then experienced such things as famine, war, disease, etc. Finally they were exiled to Babylon because they had forgotten God almost entirely.

This is not my opinion, this is the way that it is portrayed by the writers of the Bible--that it is possible and even likely that God will remove His protection from a nation which is not totally devoted to Him, "abandoning" them to their own desires and the consequences.

I think most people would agree that the United States is not unified in its attitude toward God--many people (perhaps the majority, even of those who believe in Him) would prefer to rely on their own intelligence and/or strength, and pursue their own pleasures, rather than acknowledge the complete superiority of God. I don't by any means condone what these terrorists have done, and I may not agree with how Robertson and Falwell put their comments, but I can envision such occurences as being allowed by God in order to wake us up to our absolute need for Him. It seems at the moment to have had such an effect, and I pray that the return to God that some people have made--although it comes as a result of this horrible tragedy--will spread throughout our nation.

In my own life I have had this sort of thing happen many times, although on a much smaller scale. For example, every time I became too devoted to a boyfriend and neglected my personal time with God as a result (like not going to church on Sunday because we had been out late Saturday night), it wasn't long before each guy broke up with me. In hindsight I can see that God was trying to tell me to make Him first in my life. When I did--deciding to stop trying to find a man and just go about doing my best at my first job, having my private devotions and going to church more often--He sent me my husband, right there in the same office.

Sorry this is so long-winded--sometimes I don't know exactly how I feel about something until I start putting it down in writing, and then this happens!

BTW--To those who disagree with me--and I am sure many will--I would ask that you please remember our similarities when responding. Most of us believe in a good and loving God (and the writers of the Bible were not saying--and I am not saying--that God is vengeful, but that He is just). Plus, we all have come to this place because of our interest in a young man who was one of God's finest creations and who loved Him, prayed to Him, and read His Word. God has brought us here to care about each other, not to tear each other down. Thank you all for your time.

You know, I struggle with anyone who is quick to condemn anyone. Each person is accountable to God in his or her own way. God is our ultimate arbitrator (or judge if you will) I have found him to be a merciful one in my life, and He knows I need mercy, not justice, most of the time with all my faults. Even in the Old Testament, when it seemed like God was removing his protection, it was really humans, with their free will, that were removing themselves. If I could use the analogy of God's protection as an umbrella, God doesn't move the umbrella, we choose to step out from under it. So in many ways you all are right in what you say. I have made conscious choices in my life to not live the way I should and have stepped out from under the umbrella. God could not protect me from the consequences, but thank God, he never moves the umbrella, cause it's always there for me to get back under when I come to my senses and seek Him again. Ed, I guess when I hear people like Falwell and Robertson go on like this my reaction is to pray for them. I think they mean well, but they don't understand that you can't beat people over the head with God.... He's not that kind of a God. Weeeone, I think you are right, God is not human.... and I thank Him for that too, cause if most humans I know were to stand in judgement of me, I'd be going to you know where! My pastor is fond of saying that we should never be quick to ask God for justice, cause we might get it and be condemned. What we need to ask Him for instead is mercy. Mariposa, you hit the nail on the head when you speak of things happening in your life that did not pan out cause you had your priorites with God out of kilter.... Man, has that been the story of my life! All of us have to remember that our walk with our creator is a personal one and everyone answers for themselves. What may be right for me may not be for another person. Only God knows us and our hearts. I think if people around the world would try to live in their own back yard and not judge others, this world would be a lot more peaceful, and things like what happened Tuesday would never happen! As I was reading the posts here. I came across Mariposalkb's . I tend to agree with her on her response.
When I'm usualy on here or any other chat area for that matter. I usualy have some sort of Christian music playing to help keep myself grounded. One of them was Lisa Bevils No condemnation". That was playing as I read the posts here.As I read the liner notes reguarding the song, " therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus the law of the spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:1 (NIV)

(If you cast the first stone,I'd like to know what planet your living on! Please let us love and find peace - Lisa Bevil )

Marisposa, Luckymama & Hue all put it well. I can understand New Yorkers being upset by Falwell & Robertsons comments. I think they meant well but just didn't word it right & forgot that it might upset some folks. What happened this week is a sad thing. In it's happening it looks like it is drawing people closer together & closer to God. Republican & Democrat alike put aside arguments to come together. Hopefully this spirt of unity will continue on. Hang in there New Yorkers. God loves you & we are thinking of you.

Language such as that used by Falwell & Robertson quoted above is not misunderstood. I belive it is meant to be divisive and inflammatory.

Red face

Lately the only person that I have been watching is Charles Stanley. I believe in what he has to say. He has the same beliefs as I do. I have been in all kinds of religion and have been very dissapointed. I believe in God. Charles Stanley preaches beautifully.

Jerry Falwell was on Goodmorning America Friday morning and Diane Sawyer interviewed him. You could tell she was annoyed with what he had said. He apologized publically for making those statements. He says he still stands behind being against abortion but all that other CRAP he truly didn't mean. I think he had gotten some nasty e-mail and it has him scared. He promised Diane Sawyer that he wouldn't make any more accursations like that again. Pat Robertson announced that he was only agreeing with Jerry Falwell and that he didn't really understand what all he was saying. For all it's worth, we'll just have to wait and see what they say from now. When everyone in the USA is uniting and standing together, they seem to be trying to point fingers and cause
termoil amongst us. What a same!
