How could the writers improve the Chris character - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

She's my favorite character but she needs some improvement. Maybe more people would like her if she was more multi-dimensional. How does everybody think she could be improved.

P.S. don't say make her act JUST like Reggie did lol.

well we've all seen her good side(mostly nice 99.9 percent of the time) and one time we saw her dark side, I say they need to make her edgy, tough, not funny(well she is funny) , give her some flaws, be little crazy, or something new.........
I don't know, I want the writers to suprise us fans with Chris, you know make us think were going to see more of the same act, and then bring out the 'new' Chris when we least expect it.

I agree. I don't think they should change her completely though. They shouldn't make her a bad girl/punk character at least that's my opinion. What does everyone else think?

I think the problem with a character like Chris is that she has to be a foil for Becker.
She has to be nice and sensible becasue he's the loveable cranky crumudgeon. You get more "situations" out of situation comedy when you have two opposites playing off one another.
You can't give her a darker angrier side, because she wold be just like Becker, and then the whole "opposites attract" scenario would be ruined...

That's true but couldn't they make her a bit more multi-dimensional without giving her a darkside? I don't know what do you think?

The problem unfortunatly, is that she is "the girlfriend." On most sitcoms, the girlfriend just looks on from the sidelines while the boyfriend (usually the star who's name is in the title) gets all the good lines and all the storys revolve around him.

It has always been a shame that they really can't develop strong supporting female characters that aren't there for comic relief (like Karen on Will & Grace) or the "wife" like Patricia Heaton on "Raymond."

Give it some time. WIth any luck, they'll be fleshing out Chris. Right now, they're still trying to make the audience forget about Reggie.

But she isn't really the girlfriend. She refuses to date him.

Okay, technically, she's not his girlfriend, but she is the love interest, it is a sure bet they will eventually get together...

Yeah then they'll break up a half a million times then end up together again. It's a neverending cycle lol.

Your right. I didn't mean change her completley, if they did, that mess up the storyline.......I guess they need to give her a background, and some flaws, for some reason the character Chris is identical to Diane Chambers in Cheers, do yall agree?

well for me I"d like to get to know her past history a little more like WHERE did she come from? WHY did her husband and her split up? DID THEY have kids if they DID where are they?, WHERE DID SHE COME FROM?? ya know what I mean tell us more about the Past her

What I'm REALLY wanting to know is why she got divorced and WHY she didn't admit that to anyone but Bob. Remember Bob was the person that told everyone she's divorced. I wonder why she's hiding that info. What does everyone else think?
