Default I finally saw Back To The Future!

After hearing so much about this movie on this board I finally watched all three BTTF films this weekend, and you guys were right, this was a great movie! I was actually very surprised to see how much I enjoyed part 2 considering how many people seemed to dislike it. I thought it was almost as good as the first, but not quite. I thought the third one was pretty good too, but not nearly as good as the first two. I have a question though. Do any of you know why Elisabeth Shue took over as Marty's girlfriend in part 2, and 3? Considering the fact that all three films were shot one directly after the other I thought it was odd that they got a replacement actor to play the role of Marty's girlfriend. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks everybody for talking so much about this movie. I can now say that i'm a huge fan. I think when I get a little extra money i'll definitely be buying the DVD's!

Cool

Parts 2 and 3 were shot back to back, several years after part one. Ive wondered why the original actress was replaced as well, but it's probably just as easy as:
1. she was unavailable
2. they wanted a bigger name

Those are the best lil' movies, totally rule.

Now do yourself a favor and check out Michael J Fox in THE HARD WAY if you havent already.

I have seen Michael in Stuart Little, Bright Lights Big City, (which I didn't really care for), Life With Mikey, all the BTTF films, and Casualties Of War, which was a great film. I never saw him in the Hard Way, but I will be sure to make that my next rental. If you haven't seen Casualties Of War you might want to check that out, it's kind of hard to watch, but I think aside from Back To The Future it's the best MJF work iv'e seen. Anyway thanks alot for the suggestion, i'll be sure to check that movie out sometime!

By the way thanks for the info about Elisabeth Shue. I thought that all 3 films were shot in 1985, I didn't realize it was only part 2 and 3 that were shot together. That was sort of my reasoning to as to why she didn't do the first one, because maybe she wasn't available for it. I am glad that she took over as Michael's girlfriend though considering she is one of my favorite actresses. She was in my all time favorite movie, The Karate Kid so finding out she was in two Back To The Future films was really cool.

If you haven't already seen it, I highly recommend "The Secret of My Success". Classic MJF! Watch out for the obvious flaws in the movie though such as MJF's hair growing suddenly and changing color in the middle of the movie!

Wow you guys are nice! If they don't have the Hard Way at the video store I will definitely send an email your way. Thank you so much for the offer, that is extremely nice of you. I will also check out the Secret Of My Success as well, thanks for suggesting it Winnie. I heard that it was alot like For Love or money which Michael also starred in. Is there any truth to those rumors? Anyway thanks again guys for your kindness, it is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the BTTF family. Always crazy to hear of a new fan nowadays after having seen the film for the first time 18 years ago.

The girlfriend issue is much debated in the BTTF community. "Personal reasons" were always cited by the producer, but other rumors said she got into drugs. The truth is still up in the air.

For Love or Money is a poor imitation of the great Secret of My Succe$$, which was an excellently paced and funny MJF totally 80s-ish movie about fantasy corporate ladder climbing, greed and carefree sex before AIDS. DEFINITELY check it out. Wish I could watch it with you, same for BTTF. My fave thing to do is introduce people to my fave movies from the 80s.

Hey Mcfly, thanks for the nice words and it's definitely cool to finally be in the BTTF family. Over the weekend I actually bought the trilogy DVD's at Wal Mart for the shocking price of only $37.00. and in the last two weeks iv'e watched part 1 four times, part 2 three times, and part 3 once. So I think it's safe to say that I am now a die hard fan. I am now actually addicted to these films. I had always seen parts of each film before when I was a kid because my dad use to watch them all the time, and occasionally i'd catch a few minutes of part 1 on TBS but I just never got around to watching the whole film for some odd reason. But like I said i'm glad I did. I will be sure to check out the movie you suggested along with all the other recommendations. Thanks!!!

No prob . Always get a kick outta someone becoming obsessed with the films. Most of us longtimers envy you guys who haven't seen it and have the chance to ride the wave nowadays. But at least now I have someone to quiz on BTTF stuff, so....

Have you noticed yet that the mall is called TWIN Pines Mall at the beginning, but after Marty runs over the pine tree on the old guy's farm, that when he returns at the end it's called LONE Pine Mall?

Brenda, I am here for you ....

Part 1 has (off the top of my head) seven deleted scenes:

Marty asks a woman to pinch him when he first arrives in 1955;

1955 Doc looks thru his futuristic luggage;

Marty sees his mom cheating on a test;

Darth Vader scene is extended about a minute;

Marty asks George to punch him (very quick scene)

Marty talks with Doc about being irked over going on the date with his mom ("How'm I s'posed to feel up my mom??");

George gets locked in a phone booth while calling an operator for the time at the dance.

BTTF 2 has....

Old Biff vanishes after returning to 2015;

Family pizza scene is longer;

Old Marty discovers the fainted Jennifer in the doorway;

Marty has an encounter with his drunk brother in the alt. 1985.

Part III just has one...

Buford kills Marshall Strickland in front of his son. Wisely cut for obvious reasons.

Unfort. they didn't include an interesting one of Doc trying to give Marty a gun at the drive-in and saying "If you can't save me, just kill the son of a ***** who killed me", but Marty refuses. There are still shots of that scene on some websites.
