OK, please don't laugh at me for saying this, but lately I've been noticing that Lumpy Rutherford is kind of good looking! I just saw his eyes and he has really deep brown eyes! Well, no one probably doesn't notice cuz most of the time he's acting like an idiot and he's fat! But if he keeps his mouth shut and you just look at his face, he's very handsome!!

I've noticed that sometimes too. He does look rather good looking in some scenes and eps.

Well, if you read his autobiography, he had LOTS of girlfriends in real life.
And I don't think you're crazy. He is kind of cute. |

Coincidentally, I was reading in another LITB message board a few minutes ago, and the subject was about 'what happened to Chester and Tooey?' A poster said,
Initially, Wally's two friends were supposed to be Chester and Tuey. You may notice that they appeared more frequently in the earlier shows than Eddie and Lumpy. However (an this is according to Frank Bank- who played Lumpy), when Eddie and Lumpy began getting more fan mail than anyone else on the show, their parts were written in with much more frequency. After reading that I was surmising that some viewers-- girls, most likely-- must see something in Frank/Lumpy (as well as Ken/Eddie) that they made known through fan mail, which made it apparent that those 2 were more popular than Chester and Tooey. The rest of the post: Lumpy was initially just to appear in one episode as a bully. In addition, the writers didn't know Eddie's role would endear him to as many people as it did. In both cases, they became Wally's chief friends. Buddy Hart- who was Chester- later became one of Hollywood's most famous stuntman by his new name: "Buddy Joe Hooker". Look for him on the credits of many of the action movies made in the last 25 years. So obviously a lot of viewers thought Lumpy (and Eddie) were rather appealing-- either "good-looking," as you say, and/or because they are more animated than their straight pal, Wally. |
