Wink Hello again

I wanted to say a great big hello to all my Freddie family. I have been without a computer for the past week and now that I have it back, I find I have lost everything I had on the memory on it and have to rebuild my system from scratch. This will take me some time, so please be patient with me. I may not be on the other message boards I frequent for a while because of this rebuilding. I did come back here briefly before my computer crashed and wanted to say I missed everyone here. I'm glad to see the good will generated here once again in the face of this terrible tragedy our nation has suffered. My heart and prayers go out ot all the families of the victims. I have family in the NYC area, since I was born and raised there and now I live 90 miles from DC so I have many friends who work there as well. I want everyone to keep the people who are working on the rescue and cleanup in your prayers. It is not an easy thing, psychologically, to find these victims as you try to find survivors. And it is a dangerous thing as well, with the buildings structures compromized and the possibility of collapse eminent. Some of the students at my school have parents who are assisting in this very important work and worry about thier loved ones becoming victims too. I guess in a way, we are all victims of this sensless act of violence. As I said, I grew up in the NYC area and remember the twin towers being constructed when I was in grade school myself. I could not bring myself to watch the footage of them collapsing. It is too hard for me, emotionally, to deal with.
I know that all of us are trying to make sense of this, but there is no sense in it. As I try to help my students deal with their feelings about the events, I offer these thoughts to all of you here.
As the news broke in the nation, we had the news on down in the office. I chose not to turn it on in my classroom, except at my own personal lunch time, so as not to alarm my students with the graphic view of the events. I tried, as much as I was able, to carry on my day as normally as possible. My thought about terrorism is that it is the terrorists main goal to panic the people involved in their actions. I decided I was not going to give them that satisfaction. I prayed a lot that day and continue to pray and encourage my students to join me in those prayers (I teach at a Catholic school, so I have the freedom to pray with my students!) I am very concerned, but I refuse to give into the panic. I worry about the reprocussions of all of this, especially since I have a 20 year old son who is signed up for selective service, but if I spend my life in fear, I give into the terrorists. My prayer for all of you all here is one of peace of mind. I know I don't understand all of this, but I am chosing to put it all in the Almighty's hands and go on with life as normally as possible. I know not everyone here is in the same place about God and such, but I hope all of you can find peace in your own way. Personally, I have found an ancient prayer of my church a great comfort to me these days. It is the "Prayer of St. Michael the Archangel" It is found in my story, "Salvation" on the freddieprinze.homestead.com website. I know I have gotten long winded again, so I will leave you with one more thought. It is a familiar one and I may not get the exact wording right, but the gist of it is this: "All that is needed for evil to prevail in this world is for good people to do nothing." Let all the good people of our nation and our world unite and work for the peace our world so desperately needs at this time. Thank you for your time and understanding! As always, I am....Luckymama.

Welcome back! It sounds like you have alot of hard work ahead of you getting the computer back in order. Good luck with your friends & family in NYC area...

I'm busy computer wise with my CATM/FREDDIE site. First HOMESTEAD where I had it starts charging for site & only allows ya to have 3 pages free. So I sign up with GEOCITIES because it is the only other free website host I can find with a drop & drag site editor where I can use drop & drage to do the site & do them any way I want without knwoing computer code or have to be stuck with unchangeable templates. I have some of the pages of my site (mainly ones that are mostly text with a few pics) on ANGELFIRE. Well GEOCITIES recently setn me a letter saying I am using too much bandwidth on my CATM/FREDDIE site & I can either spend more $$$ for more space (Which I can't afford) or they will have my site wehre during certain hours of the day you can't access it. YUCK!

Fortunately I found a free website editor on the internet that uses drop & drage to create sites similar to the ones in HOMESTEAD & GEOCITIES, called NETJANE. It's saved my life cuz now I can do sites on TRIPOD & ANGELFIRE using drop & drag. So I am moving the front page of my site to TRIPOD & having some of the pages of my site on it & some on ANGELFIRE. The pages that I did on HOMESTEAD & were transferred to GEOCITIES cuz it was too ahrd to re-do them will stay in GEOCITIES.

Unfortunately with NETJANE you can't overlap images or have a bunch of text links over one picture. So I am having to do my home front page (The Front page of my CATM/FREDDIE site) on GEOCITIES & leaving it there, then viewing the HTML comptuer code of the site & copying it & then inserting it on the front page (Firstpage) of the TRIPOD site. Then whenever I need to make any changes or add or delete stuff, I'll do it on GEOCITIES & save it, then copy the computer code & insert it on TRIPOD In place of the old computer code. This way I can have the site on TRIPOD & still be able to do the front page the way I want with the over lapping images & text links. It is alot of hard work but when it's all done, I'll be satisfied knowing Freddie is looking down & pleased that someone cared enough about him to pay tribute to him.

Oh btw- you can have the MSN Freddie sites set up where you can have all the new message e-mailed to ya & then you don't have to go to the site to read them. THat saves me alot of time.

Good luck with egtting the puter going! These puters are keeping us very busy LOL!

God Bless the USA!

Luckymama, you were wise in not turning on the TV in your classroom. Thay did at my daughters school and scared her half to death. She came running home that evening afraid our house was bombed. She kept asking me why this all happened, and why we are hated so. I had no answers for her questions. She too attends a Catholic school, and they prayed, and offered up Masses for the victims. Even my parish priest was at a loss for words. What really scares me is, this is just the beginning,it`s not over yet. I pray to God it is.

Luckymama - What a tragedy we all have been through. I sent my children to school yesterday because I wanted them to be strong and have their minds on other things. There were only 3 children in school in my son's class yesterday. Good Luck in fixing your computer problems!
