Default Who here thinks N@N is or about to go down the toilet?

I think with there year long marathon of the Cosby show and Cheers has already started the networks decline, however they keep saying its there best ratings in years, well it maybe, but for how long? Roseanne does not belong on N@N,Full House I can see comming to N@N,but it should wait a few years. I think in the neear future N@N could be in trouble. What do you think?

P.s. N@N is going to pot and it will stay that way until there is a major change.

Nick at Nite has not only already gone down the toilet, but it has went into the sewer, and has been devoured by an alligator, dwelling down there. To which, Nick did not agree with the gator ( who does it agree with) and the gator regurgitated it, only to have it join what Nick really is, the waste from the toilet.

I agree. I mean used to love "The Cosby Show" but it's played SO much I've gotten sick of it! And the only other shows on N@N that are EVEN WATCHABLE are Happy Days and The Brady Bunch!! N@N has to bring back more classics or it is going to get even worse...If that's possible.

Four people are holding this channel up and that would be Archie, Edith, Gloria, and the Meathead. They are all on the same show, but that's the only thing good about the station. You see what time slot they get. I really do feel sorry for the people that like 3's Company and FT etc. They are shoved in the deep graveyard slots. Nick at Nite needs a major overhaul.

Edit- I need to speak my mind because this is really pissing me off. It seriously is and I need to get it off my chest. I understand people like Cosby Show, but all these marathons are really making me sick. It's fine and dandy to show Cheers and Cosby, but they really need to free up some time. You could get some of the graveyard shows on at a decent time if it weren't for the extra airings. This channel sucks now. It's a joke now. It's just a big joke that started out as, 'Oh God, is somebody smoking something crazy to make a schedule out like that?!' It just isn't funny anymore.

They dumbed down the station and I hate it when stations dumb stuff down. It's like they think we are all a bunch of dumbasses that must sit on our arses all day long. We can schedule our schedule this way because our viewers are a bunch of lazy people. They'd sit and watch the weather channel all day long if the remote was out of reach. They'll watch our channel all night long and we can just air hour after hour of crap. Ooh, I better stop for now.

You are so right Jenny! N@N went from being a good network to the sorriest network on tv IMO. I post on the tvland messaege board under a different name and I post complaints until I turn Blue and they just respond with excuses. I for one used to love to watch the cosby show, but now everytime I see it I can't stand it I hate the current time slot for Three's Company and what really ticks me off is that I was taping Three's Company in October of this year when they were airing all episodes and In November they only show one show a night while other shows get a double take,I mean come on N@N you either show all shows in double take fomat or add newer shows and air allof them just once for variety,I also don't know about other shows on N@N,but not only is Three's Company gettting less air time they are skipping episodes as well, that just irks me I know there are cosby fans and cheers fans, but to make it all fair they should cut back on the airings and add new shows such as Perfect strangers and ALF,not shows such as Roseanne, Full House(although it would be ok to air in maybe five years or so but not now). It seems N@N could care less about there viewers.

Hey I have an Idea! Why don't all the posters on SO who hate N@N do a hostile takeover at N@N and correct things

It has already gone down the toilet and beyond, like Flash72 said a few posts back. They are never going to get out. Let's just hope the good networks like TV Land and Hallmark don't do the same thing.

I hate how they're skipping Three's Company episodes. In January however they're finally going to go back in correct order, with them skipping three or four episodes.

I gave up on N@N a long time ago. I like an occasional Cheers or TCS. However, they're playing them to death. They should have double takes in the middle of the night and early morning, that way their shows get an equal chance at exposure.

I like that they recently added Happy Days and The Brady Bunch. It's great for the fans of those two shows and for the fans that do not have TV Land, but I mean HD and BB both come on at least four times a day on TV Land, and HD also airs on WGN. So that is sort of a mixed blessing.

Yeah, I was going to mention that whole HD and BB thing. I do realize that not all people get TVL. However, HD comes on WGN and I'm sure you either get one or the other station. Someone should drop it. Either WGN should drop it or N @ N should drop it.

I like HD and all that, but I get every station it comes on. I'm not trying to diss HD, but they could be airing something that isn't shown on other channels. It is a welcome relief that N @ N shows two old shows, but they could make some improvement on the old shows that they do air. They could show Laverne and Shirley or even FOL. Those are two shows that hardly get any airplay.

I'm wondering if HD and TBB were added trying to show people that they haven't totally gone down the drain?

I think that Nick @ Nite, will disappear in a couple of years, and Nickelodeon will be a full-time station for kids, and when Nick @ Nite goes away... Nickelodeon will begin airing classic Nick originals at night. Like, Salute Your Shorts, etc.

Eventually the people at TV Land will create a new channel for more "modern classics."

Jenny, I agree with you 150%. First off, Nick-at-Nite overplays some of their shows, while the others have no chance because they are aired in a late-night time-slot.

When they try to get ratings, The Cosby Show and Cheers are the first ones up on the line-up, TC, FT, Coach , TBB and HD are left to a minimum, while the others get double takes.

Nick-at-Nite needs to improve their line-up, they're pressing the fast foward button to fast, they are slowly getting to modern tv shows such as Roseanne and Full House. I suggest they add some more '80s classics since they never took the time to air a large amount but instead they aired very few of them.

When The Cosby Show and Cheers are aired again, they have another double take even before they their other shows come on. Besides The Cosby Show, Cheers and All in the Family the rest of their shows get one airing per night, I would like to see that every one of their shows get atleast one double take.

Even AITF was held back, when they added Coach to their line-up, it was held back to air later in the night, it dosen't deserve to be aired this late at night so they need to put it back in it's former time-slot.

I understand when they added The Brady Bunch and Happy Days came on, they were on other stations such as WGN and TV Land. I thought it was a nice way that both networks could air these shows, since TV Land has aired multiple airings of these shows, I think they gave some airings to Nick-at-Nite since TV Land has aired these shows many times. It's good that Nick-at-Nite added these shows even if they are on WGN and TV Land, its nice to both of them share these shows, since some people don't recieve one or the other on their cable systems.

You know, I bet that will happen. The Nickelodeon channel eats away at Nick @ Nite's time. I kind of feel they'd be better off showing old Nickelodeon classics.

TVL could do something totally different and added a few stations dedicated to certain years. You could have a 50s station, 60s station, 70s station, 80s station, 90s station, and a rare station. The rare station could be dedicated for shows that only had a few episodes or one year wonders. I think it'd be a good idea. It would seriously cut down on the complaints--just as long as they don't show the same junk 5 times a day.

Before it's over, I bet they have Archie on once a night. It's coming. It might be when another show comes, but I'm willing to bet All in the Family will get shoved into the deep graveyard slot and be aired at 3:30 in the morning. I even posted something on the AITF board about favoritism. I was wondering if AITF was treated as well as Cosby. I'm sure AITF had it's mini-marathons, but I bet Cosby and Cheers has it beat out when it comes to favoritism

I don't think that will happen anytime soon. Nick@Nite currently is the #2 rated network in primetime (9-11pm ET/PT) among viewers 18-49, I think behind Lifetime, not sure on that though.
Despite people complaining, it is doing it's best EVER right now. I think ever since the Revenge of the 80's marathon started it has been getting better and better every year in the ratings. That marathon was high rated and they even did Totally 80's Sundays that month, which was not even scheduled until after the Revenge of the 80's marathon was over. ALF did the best in that event, I think it would be a great regular for Nick@Nite once Hallmark Channel loses the rights. Diff'rent Strokes and Three's Company from about April to August 2001 was the highest rated duo EVER on Nick@Nite. Then came the Cheers marathon in October 2001, another success in the ratings.
As of now, The Cosby Show and Cheers are strong in the ratings, despite all the complaints, I think the people complaining are the only ones who are and the rest of the country are watching it, because the ratings are unbelievable, especially for Cosby. Now Cosby Show and Cheers are the highest rated series EVER. There have been some misses, Coach might be considered that, Family Ties is, it had that 9pm or 9:30pm slot and did not perform well.

As for TV Land, The Andy Griffith Show is the highest rated series on the network. The highest rated program ever on the network was the 9pm Oct 15th, 2001 airing of I Love Lucy (50th Anniversary). TV Land was hoping Lucy would do even better than Andy, but that didn't happen, that might be one of the reasons Lucy is not airing at 9pm anymore.
The second highest rated program ever was the marathon of the TV Land Legends back on November 3, 2002.

So, it's all about ratings. Despite all the complaints, these two networks are doing well. I guess the complaints are good because viewers do care and watch the network despite complaining...

I just had a thought. Nick at Nite used to show classic TV shows from the 50s through the 70s, right? Well, they don't do that anymore and I am sure I know why. Right now we have several networks who show old classic TV shows (Goodlife, Hallmark, TV Land). I think the ratings that PB has just posted goes to show that we don't really need another channel to show old TV shows. I'm sure that quite a few will not agree with my beliefs but I now believe that Nick at Nite was wise to go in new directions. I am not making this post lightly. I know you people are used to classic gems but we already have several channels for those to air.

I posted this in another post but let me post it here to just because no one has replied to that other post.

My only gripe is that they air "The Cosby Show" TOO much.I love the show because I remember it from my childhood much like how I remember "Empty Nest" and "The Golden Girls" but they air TCS too much for me to enjoy it anymore.I like that they are starting to air later shows. The idea of N@N was for kids of the time to watch shows that their parents watched when they were kids. Now that we are all grown up our kids (If you have any of course) get to watch what WE watched when we grew up like TCS,Cheers and Charles in Charge (I never really watched Cheers as a kid but CIC I did).Anyway I think I've made my point.
