Missing episodes

Do the nonsyndicated episodes still exist?

PRESUMABLY.

I watched one of those "biography" type shows (I think it was on A&E) on the Nelson's, the other day, and Connie Harper was interviewed. For some reason, I thought the caption under her said...former wife of ... I could be wrong, because I was doing other things while the show was airing.

I LOOKED AT MY TAPE OF THE BIOGRAPHY SHOW AGAIN (AIRED 6/21/98) AND CONNIE HARPER IS IDENTIFIED AS “CONNIE HARPER NELSON - RICK’S FORMER SECRETARY/DON [NELSON]’S EX-WIFE”. DON WAS OZZIE’S YOUNGEST BROTHER AND ALSO WAS A WRITER ON THE SHOW. AMONG THE INTERVIEWEES ARE ART LINKLETTER, JOE BYRNE, SALLY HUGHES, HOLLY HUMPHREYS, WILLY NELSON, DAVID NELSON, KRISTIN HARMON NELSON TINKER, JAMES BURTON, PAUL PETERSEN, JIMMIE HASKELL.

You are so lucky. I have been looking for O and H for a long time and they never show it. I have some tapes that I have just started to watch again. Disney used to show Ozzie and Harriet but they quit. Oh well Ill keep looking. I wish TV Land would show their show.

IN THE FEATURE, “HERE COME THE NELSONS” HE WORKED FOR AN ADVERTISING AGENCY. IN THE SERIES, HIS OCCUPATION WAS NEVER MENTIONED.

It is wonderful to have these episodes offered to buy so I can add them to my collection. I really enjoyed watching all of them, especially "The Party". It's a shame Don DeFore did not stay with the show for a while longer. He was great in the role of Ozzie's neighbor. The point though, of having a vintage recording such as this, is to have everything included that was on the original, open and close credits and commercials if available. When the episode ends with great comedy, I'm sitting there waiting for the wonderful credits music to come up, naturally. On these tapes, that has been deleted. Why??? Each episode is prefaced with an on camera announcer that gives away in advance, the plot of the episode. The info he's giving us is written on the box anyway. I want to see actors and actresses listed that played in that episode. Most of the open credits are missing too. But seeing the episodes is a joy. I hope more are offered in the future.

Ozzie and Harriet is a great example of the perfect American family as portrayed in the 50's. Unfortunately the manufacturer (Marathon Music & Video) could have done a better job. Only a small handful of episodes when David and Ricky were little (possibly some of the best episodes). To much time spent on later years. This company says that because of the age of the subject mater there are flaws. The truth is this company spent little time remastering. Lip sync is off in some episodes and others are soft focus due to no regard to providing quaility. An annoying announcer has to describe each episode rather then provide the original opening and closings. And they are so proud of their logo they have provided the MM&V at the bottom of each entire episode. There was no excuse for this poor reproduction....episodes were presented on cable TV in beautiful detail. MM&V should go back to and digitally reproduce each episode exactly as they were originally presented without the announcer. These look more like poor reproductions of "public domain" material.

CAUTION! CAUTION! THESE SEEM TO BE TYPICAL OF THE O & H VIDEOS THAT HAVE BEEN RELEASED. MOST, IF NOT ALL, SEEM TO HAVE BEEN OF VERY POOR QUALITY! ANY KIND OF “OFFICIAL” AND “AUTHORIZED” VIDEO RELEASE, MADE FROM THE BEST FILM MATERIALS IN EXISTENCE, HAS YET TO BE MANUFACTURED!
