Post Freddie Not Hungarican?

Hey all,

Someone posted a rather detailed message to me about Freddie's father...thought you might want to check it out on the MESSAGE BOARD at www.prinze-sr.cityslide.com

Very interesting Croiter. I would like to find out more if I could. Nate was right from what I remember to be true from my days in school...not many Jews went from Germany to Hungary. If Freddie proclaimed that his heritage was Hungarian then he either believed it to be true or thought it best to keep it that way in the public eye. From what I remember, Hollywood was still reeling from the Walter Winchell Communist lynching party, so to speak. It was still fresh in everyone's mind even in the 70's. For whatever reason, it does not dispute the fact that he was one of the great comedians of our time. Thanks Croiter for turning us on to this message.

I think Hunga-rican has a better ring to it than Germa-rican.

Croiter - I have no idea if Freddie ever said he was a Hungarian/Jew. I don't remember him saying this. I remember hearing that he was just Hungarian. The Jew part I have no idea where that came from.

I don't ever remember him saying her was Jewish either. When I went to the web site where this started from they said that Freddie might not have been trying to deceived the people in Hollywood...I think if he really wasn't Hungarian then he didn't know that. I think he truly believed he was.
Mariposa... Thanks

What does it matter if he was Jewish or Hungrian? The man is gone let him rest in peace. I can think of this simple explination maybe his father really is Jewish but his family lied and said they where from Hungry to escape Hitler and Holocost. Alot of Jewish people did that back then because they where afraid of there families getting murdered. I learned that in Social Studies.

I think it matters somewhat! I think it gives us a better understanding of who he was. I, personally appreciate every new bit of information I read on Freddie. It's not like we're conducting a smear campaigne against anybody by learning new stuff!

Well maybe to you it matters but i dont think it matters cause yes it is good to learn new things but when you really think about it what is it gonna change??? Nothing.
Now lets just say you where to die ok, and after you have been dead somebody finds out something about you that you never told anyone and its something negative. Its gonna make people change there perspective of you.

Ed, you are absolutely right when you say that this is not going to bring Freddie back. Nothing we discuss here at the board is going to bring him back. But it is going to further our knowledge and understanding of him. Croiter brought something to this board that he obviously thought would be of interest to us so we could talk about it and have a well rounded view of someone we will never have the pleasure of meeting.
But I ask you...is dragging Kathy thru the mud going to bring Freddie back? It's the same principal as what we are dealing with here. In the grand scheme of things it's not going to make one bit of difference. The outcome is still going to be the same. Whether we talk about what shoes he wore when he was buried or whether we discuss the way E! portrayed him...it's not going to bring him back. My perspective of Freddie has changed only in the fact that he continues to become more complex and multi-faceted everyday thru our discoveries and discussions here.
As for if I died...I would like to think that if someone dug up something negative about me that they would have the God-given sense to figure out why it was a part of who I was. Let the world try and figure all that out. I wouldn't care what people were saying about me as long as they remembered me and I would like to think Freddie felt the same way.

Is Dragging Kathy thru the mud gonna bring Freddie back? Answer is No. But this thread has nothing to do with her and she was never mentioned so i dunno why you brought her up. But since you did let me ask how come she is never dragged threw the mud. She was a Whore, who had alot to do with this mans troubles and yet time and time again when it comes time to tell his story he is misportraited and made to look like a drug addict. Thats not right. Hey its not gonna change anything but atleast the truth will be told and Freddie's memory will be given the respect it deserves. That is right.

Sorry to any of the ladies here on the board who may have been offendend by my use of the word "Whore" but i am being real and i am telling it like it is. That is how i see her.
