Default Road to Perdition

I just saw this movie on DVD yesterday and thought it was great. If you like gangster movies, check this one out. Tom Hanks really didn't have a lot of lines in the movie, but it was still good.

How did you get the DVD already? You and your entertainment connections Brian, damn you, j/k.
Us regular folks have to wait until February 25th for video.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I heard it was sort of bloody, a little lengthy but a good movie. It'll do an Oscar sweep I bet.

I'm a part of The Writers Guild of America(Even though the most writing I do at work is on these boards.) and they sent me the DVD in the mail last week.

It is bloody, but not too bloody. Believe it or not, the movie isn't that long. It's well worth it to buy or rent.

Well, it's really not a job that you can just apply for. It's very helpful if you went to college. You first start out as an unpaid intern doing meaningless jobs. If the management likes your work, you'll be offered a job starting out at the bottom pay scale. From there you join the Writers Guild and advance in the company. It's a very hard job to get into, but well worth it if you do.

Thumbs up

I saw Road to Perdition tonight, and I just loved it. It was extremely well done. The actor who played Tom Hanks' son is very talented and good looking. I don't think we've seen the last of him.
I'm surprised the movie didn't receive more major Oscar nominations. Paul Newman got a nod for Best Supporting Actor, yet the other ones were for sound, editing, cinematography, etc. The movie was visually stunning.
I think it deserved a Best Picture nomination. The Academy loves Tom Hanks, and he did a great job, so I'm surprised he was overlooked as well.
Movies like this don't come along everyday.

I liked it, but hardly loved it. Tom Hanks was great in it, but Paul Newman just didn't thrill me whatsoever. Hanks was the only colorful character in the entire film. The son was almost quite great. Grand cinematography, nice direction, and beautiful score. B+/B.

Thought I'd bump this thread back up...

I finally got around to seeing "Road To Perdition" tonight and I must say I really enjoyed it.
Some day Sam Mendes will be a legend in Hollywood. He really is a great director.
While it is always great to see Newman on screen, is role in this film wasn't worthy of an Oscar nod. He was good, but to be quite honest any good character actor could have pulled that off.
I think Jude Law did a great job as the creepy assassin McGuire. It amazes me how he is able to totally transform himself in every movie he makes.

Great film, wished I actually got off my lazy butt and saw it when it was in theaters.

I saw this with my mother in theaters and it was a really good film. 3 1/2 stars from my book.
