Post After "Ed talks to God"

I keep missing the show that comes after the Ed talks to God episode. What I want to know is Freddie still in the credits, or is the Ed talks to God episode the last time. Please forgive me as I'm new to this board, but was it after this show that Freddie took his life? How long after he filmed it? His troubles sure did not come across in his work. I'm still haunted by a very, very good friend of mine who took his life back in 1992, almost ten years to the day that his older brother did the same. I don't know everything about Freddie's case, if anyone could have done anything or not, but in my case I had zero idea as to what was coming.

Bela, I am so,so, sorry about your loss. From what I have learned from the people on this board, Freddie took his life hours after filming Ed talks to God. I don`t know the answer to your other questions, but I know someone will, and be glad to answer them

Bela, first I want to say welcome to our family! Let me answer your questions.

The show after the "Ed talks to God" episode was without Freddie. He had already taken his life by then. He is not listed in the credits even though the writers decided to include Chico's name in the discussions with Ed and Della (a shame and a sham IMHO) "Ed talks to God" was the last episode Freddie filmed. It was not shown until weeks after his death, since they filmed the shows weeks in advance of the airdate. Freddie took his life only hours after this show was filmed, the wee hours of the next morning to be exact. I think it was a surprise to a lot of people, especially the viewers. Freddie was a professional up to the end!

Thank you for your kind welcome. Just a quick note on who I am, my name is Sean, and I have a wife and two daughters ages 12 and 6. I've been a CATM fan since the show first came on 1974 and I was 9 years old. I thought the show would never be on again. Good job TV Land. But I do wish they would put it on at a better time. I always thought is was strange the way they just would say Chico is away in Mexico this and that after he took his life. I was stunned when I saw the episode when Mando gave Raul the panel truck! Poor Louie/Scatman was not acting on that one, his pain was real. I didn't remember ever seeing that episode before.

Hey, again, welcome to the board. BTW I'm close by, at least in neighboring states! WV!
Thanks for being a fan. We get so few guys, but I guess there are hundreds of fans of both genders that we haven't heard from. I'm glad you found your way to our little corner of CATM fandom!

Welcome Bela, glad you found your way here.I don`t remember the van segment of CATM, mainly because after Freddie ended his life,I found the show to painful to watch.

Looking back the only strange thing was my friend had come back with me to my house after a labor day picnic at my in-laws, and told me how lucky I was to have such a great wife and little girl, and how all the girls he had ever dated only wanted to use him. His family ran a local business. This and the fact he had been around much more than usual. I did my best to be a friend to him. I never saw it coming.

Bela1 - My hubby saw his best friend the same day he took his life. My hubby said that the only reason he believes his friend took his life was because he had gotten this girl pregnant and he was ashamed of the woman having the baby. (She was supposedly ugly).

In hindsight my hubby says that her pregnacy must've tortured him to do that act. They were friends in Public School together all the way until they both turned 23. It really shocked my hubby. It was his best friend. Plus the way the guy died was grusome he jumped out a window. A high floor too.

My friend took his life in the very same garage that his older brother did like I said almost ten years later. It takes real strength sometimes to hang in there, belive me I know. Five years ago, I had a accident and as a result I now have what is called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome or RSD. No cure and it gives you a ton of pain and burning. I can't do the things I would do any more, and I'm on so many med's it's not even funny. One of the med's I'm on is the one you may have read about, or seen on tv lately because of people abusing and over dosing with it, oxycontin. Between the rsd, the med's and their side effects, life sucks! But I have my kids to keep me going. Also thank God for the web!

Bela1 - Amen to that!!! I have kids too and the release I have is getting on the computer. It gives me some solace. LOL It's sad to hear that your friends did that. For my hubby I'm there for him when he wants to vent but, we really rarely talk about what happened to his friend. Only once in a while. I think what shocks my hubby the most is that the guy gave him no clue whatsoever..... If he did, he spoke about the pregnant girl but, he didn't show anything traumatic for my hubby to hear the alarm bells. As for you I hope they find a cure for what ails you. It's hard when you have aches and pains. Thank GOD they make medicine though!!! LOL

JennyLee22, I'm sure your husband has thought a million times of the same two words I have, "if only". I would think to myself maybe if I talked to him more, spent more time with him. The last few weeks of his life, he started coming around more, and he was always made to feel welcome by my wife. I took him out for a few beer's, we took him to a family cookout, and he seemed happy. Being a parent, I can't even imagine what his mother and father must go through. And they are good people, if anything they may have spoiled my friend a bit, but he loved them.

Welcome aboard Bela1. I can relate to yours and jennyLee's experiences as I have lost a few friends to suicide...two of them this year. But I'm a firm believer that God never sends us more than we can bare.:sseya:
