Yeah, Happy Christmas everybody. It's half past seven in the evening on Christmas Eve (don't kno wwhat time it is for the rest of you!) and I've got my Christmas tree lights on and everything looks nice. Weather's strangely warm though. Obviously nobody told it this is Britain!

Thre's plenty of time for snow yet, what are you all complaining about?! Don't know about poor old Splain up in Canada, but in the UK we've still got another eight months of winter to go, and there's sure to be plenty of snow yet. More than enough to make a sizeable percentage of the population die of cold before August, anyway. That's one line Irving Berlin didn't put in White Christmas. Maybe he couldn't find a suitable rhyme.

We got a ridiculous amount in November, but almost none in December, which helped for shopping and travelling, but ruined the atmosphere for the Holidays. We have FOUR months left here with the worst being Jan and Feb, March can go either way, then it's rain and the occasional dump in April. How the heck do you get EIGHT months in Britain? Or is it like here, it's four months, but seems like eight as you get older!

Lord Byron once said "The English summer - ending in August/ to recommence in July". He was being sarcastic, naturally - and so was I when I said we had eight months of winter still to go! It's just that we have lousy summers. They're always cool and wet, with just a few hot dry days, so it's like much of the year is a continuation of March - which is wet, and mostly cold. The only really bad month, usually, is January, sometimes February as well, which tend towards lots of ice rather than snow. Then after September it deteriorates into sporadic frosts, nasty winds and even more bloody rain!
