Default What Do Y'all Think Of Rappers Doing Movies?

Rappers for the most part play the same roles every movie they do except for a few like Will Smith, Ice Cube, Ice T, LL Cool J but everybody else always plays a hoodlum, gangster, drug dealer. A lot of rappers can't act & i agree with Samuel Jackson when he said a lot of the rappers haven't been trained to become a actor or actress & they're taking away parts from trained actors who have went to school for acting. Samuel said he doesn't wanna do anymore movies with rappers & i can't blame him. Busta Rhymes, DMX, Nas, Master P, Snoop Dogg, Beanie Siegel, Memphis Bleek, Jay-Z, Method Man, Redman, Ja Rule, Kurupt, Fat Joe, Mack 10, Cypress Hill need to stay off the screen & stick to rapping. How High with Method Man & Redman sucked & so did Half Past Dead with Ja Rule, Kurupt, Steven Seagal. What's up with Steven doing movies with rappers all of a sudden anyway? Him & DMX did Exit Wounds together which i liked but enough is enough. DMX is about to come out with a movie with Jet Li called Cradle 2 The Grave in March. Jet Li & DMX were in Romeo Must Die also. Most of Ice T's movies are low budget & straight to video movies. I've seen so many of his movies sitting on the shelf at Blockbuster hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. He always plays a gangsta or a hoodlum in his movies. He has played a cop three times in New Jack City, Law & Order tv show & the short lived tv show Players. I liked him in Surviving The Game with Gary Busey, Charles S Dutton, Rutger Hauer. Dr Dre said he's given up acting after he did Training Day & The Wash. He said he doesn't have the passion for it. I was glad to hear that. 8 Mile was a good movie for Eminem's acting debut. Cam'ron also did a good job in Paid In Full for his acting debut.

It's the same as Britney Spears doing movies and Hilary Duff singing..don't quit your day job.

I don't think rappers should get all these roles because they have "Street cred." There are thousands of starving actors black and white that deserve more opportunities.

I don't think r&b singers, rock singers, country singers should do movies either. Look at Mariah Carey's movie, it didn't do nothin. I did like Whitney Houston in The Bodyguard & The Preacher's Wife. Prince's Purple Rain movie was good but i doubt it if his Under The Cherry Moon & Graffiti Bridge movies were good. R&B singer Vanity has been in a lot of movies back in the day since she stopped singing. I liked her in Action Jackson & The Last Dragon. I remember country singer Randy Travis was in Steven Seagal's Fire Down Below movie.

One of the worst movies I ever saw was called Pure Country starring country singer George Strait and Leslie Ann Warren.*ugh*

Yea, I hate the fact when singers/rappers think that "I can do a movie they're just like a neverending music video!". Please..they are two totally different things, though sometimes singers are good actors but that hardly ever happens.

Default Rap sucks

Rap sucks and none of them can really act. Will Smith is the only one I can stand but I think of him more as an actor than a rapper, but at least when he does rap he's not talking about raping women etc. He's the only one who has class.

Wasn't Lesley Ann Warren in Bruce Willis Color Of Night movie? Did anybody see Will Smith in Six Degrees Of Separation movie? I've never seen that movie but i read reviews about it & Will played a *** in that movie. I heard he kissed a white boy in that movie. I hope he didn't have sex with him, that would've been disgusting if he did. Will Smith's movies suck, only movies i like he did are Bad Boys & Enemy Of The State with Gene Hackman. I can't wait for Bad Boys 2 to come out this summer, i've been waiting on a sequel for that for the longest. Him & Martin Lawrence have good chemistry.

I just saw Mariah Carey's Glitter movie yesterday & i liked it. I remember when it first came out how the critics dogged it & said it was a terrible flick. I like the 80's r&b songs they played in the movie & Mariah was looking hot in those outfits she had on.

Thank you Isiah. I liked the movie too. It was a good movie. The reason why it didn't do good in the box office was because it came out around September 11th. I thought the movie was good and I liked her acting. I've never been a Mariah Carey fan... Until I saw this movie. Now I know why she has some fans........

Yeah Glitter was a very good movie, i hate critics. Half the time they don't know what they're talkin about. Da Brat who is a rapper was Mariah Carey's roommate & friend in Glitter. Kurupt who is a rapper & he's in the group The Dogg Pound is gonna be in the new movie Dark Blue with Kurt Russell & Ving Rhames. I wanna see that. It's a action flick. Kurt & Ving are cops in the movie.

Ditto. Hilary Duff needs to go back to Jr. High School.

The only good rappers turned actors are Mark Wahlberg(used to rap) and Will Smith.
