I saw this movie over the weekend and thought it was excellent. It definitely has a shot to be nominated for Best Picture. It is very violent though.

I agree, it was very very violent. It was done well, but I think it went on a little too long. I don't know about it winning for best picture, but Daniel Day-Lewis should cetainly win for best supporting actor.

I agree with you. It was too long (and image...they cut out 20 minutes!) I don't think it should win best picture, and really I don't even know if it should be a nominee (it was good but there were at least 5 better movies this year). But it does seem like the type of film the Academy likes. But Daniel Day Lewis was great and I wouldn't mind seeing him get a nod. And really Leonardo DiCaprio was pretty good too.
