Which episode in your opinion had the best performance by Dick York and the best performance by Dick Sargent?
My favorite Dick York performance was in the 2nd season ep "The Joker Is Wild", which was the first Uncle Arthur episode. Watching him sing "Yagga Zuzzy Zim" with the cowbell and duck call is priceless. My favorite Dick Sargent performance was in the 6th season ep "The Phrase Is Familiar". He did a great job with the physical humor of acting out the clichés. |

I like both of your choices.
The episode you described ("The Phrase is Familiar") as your favorite Dick Sargent performance would also have to be my choice. By the way, THANK YOU for spelling his last name correctly. I am SO SICK of seeing people spell it "Sergeant"! ![]() I feel that Dick York's best performance, however, occurs in the episode "Divided He Falls". Endora splits Darrin into 2 separate sides of his personality: responsible, business-like Darrin & carefree fun-loving Darrin. Dick York did an outstanding job of staying within the boundaries of each "half" while maintaining his 100% "Darrin-ness". (OK, now I'm making up words which probably means I need to go to bed.)

I liked Dick York better than Dick Sargent. Dick Sargent just didn't "fit" as Darrin nearly as well as Dick York.

I have not seen the Dick Sargent episodes for quite a while, so I can't list one (or two) from him.
Dick York is a different story. I think he was at his best in... - "A" Is For Aardvark" - "If They Never Met" - "Charlie Harper, Winner" Also, the first episode. |

Oh my goodness---the "yagga zuzzi zim" performance is priceless!!!!!!
My husband and I about laughed our rear-ends off when we watched that one!!!!! And then to watch Paul Lynde (Uncle Arthur) dying of laughter in the hallway while Darrin makes such a jerk of himself....man oh man! |

Best York performances:
1) Divided he Falls 2) If They Never Met 3) Business--Italian Style 4) And Baby makes Three 5) What Every Young Man Should Know Best Sargent performances 1-2) the 2-part King Henry the Eighth saga Sargent just didn't pull my emotions the way Dick York did. |

My favorite Dick York performance (there are so many of his that are brilliant!!) Is the episode "Mirror Mirror On The Wall". The episode where Endora zaps a vanity spell on Darren and he dresses up in that outrageous Gold Lame Suit...absolutely priceless. Dick York was such a great sport doing an outrageous episode like that . Even after all these years I still laugh hysterically at that episode.

Dick York!! His expressions were excellent. He was much more animated. Dick Sargeant was way too wooden for the part. You can see that the chemistry was just not there between Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick Sargeant, as it was with Dick York. I was sad to hear that Dick York suffered so much and had to leave due to his health. Well, at least there were many good episodes with him.
