Post Freddie's funeral music

I don't want to bring anyone down by talking about Freddie's funeral after the excitement of Chicosladyfair interview with Isaac, but i was wondering,Does anyone know any of the songs they played/sang at Freddie's funeral?
Or who sang?
I was listening to one of my favorite tapes this morning and it has the song Peace in the Valley and lately when i hear that song i think about Freddie, hoping that he has finally found peace in the valley.
Anyway,I was just curious.

Don't know, but I do like that song! Especially when Elvis sings it. It would have been a good song for Freddie.

I never heard what was played at his funeral. PEACE IN THE VALLEY by Elvis is a good one. My hubby loves that one cuz he is a big Elvis fan. I think Freddie found Peace In The Valley up in heaven. We miss him even tho we never knew him but I'll see him in heaven one day & thank him for making my 40's a little brighter.

If I could ever get up enough money at one time I would buy those documents on Freddie that I would like to have. I keep tossing the idea of having them back and forth. Sometimes I would like to have them for the info value...but then other times I feel like they shouldn't be for the public to see. I do know that in these documents are the funeral arrangements. That must mean, guests, music, what flowers from whom, and I imagine what he was wearing. All that stuff is part of the arrangements. Our family has been through enough funerals in the past couple of years to know what all it entails.

I would want to know myself. Especially what he was wearing. I don't think it's grusome. It's only that I would've liked to have known.

Chicosladyfair,
not that i would really like them or could afford them but where could you get that info?Especially after so many years.
The first time i was able to locate any Freddie memorbilia on ebay i found a copy of Carroll Oconnor's funeral program.

I too would love to know what he was wearing. I read in his mothers book that whent he did the surgery on his head they had to shave his head. How sad that he lsot his beautiful hair. That's probably whay I'm assuming it was a closed casket. Poor baby. I was watching a coupla Della episodes last nite & noticed how thin he was. I bet those pills kept him from eating. he looked like he didn't feel well but was trying so hard not to show it & do a good job. It upset me so bad & made me sooo sad that I wound up having to get a coupla hankys...

Sad

Oh I know, Cheryl, I think he looked at his worst in those episodes introducing Della and the first episode of season 3 which preceded them, when Chico gets his own apartment. Oddly enough the episode they chose to run the night after he shot himself and was still clinging to life was the boxer episode, in which he looked so fabulous in those trunks, lean and muscular! I think his mother's book stated that he lost about 40 pounds very quickly near the end of his life due to the pills, going from 204 pounds when the show started down to about 150--at 6 feet two that is scary!

I agree it is so sad that his beautiful hair had to be shaved for surgery which offered no real hope of recovery anyway. And I have always wondered how they dressed him for the funeral. Even in the case of an open casket at one funeral I attended, the deceased had been ill for so long that they dressed him in pajamas and a robe, which was what he wore all the time the last few years of his life. I wonder if they bothered to dress Freddie in a suit?

Wow, I didn't know he had been 204 lbs! Even in the earlier epsiodes he still looked skinny. But later on he looked even skinnier like skin & bones. In those Della episodes he looked so boney. Poor baby. Back then I had no idea, I just assumed he was naturally thin. I'd read that in his moms book about his weight loss. I'm assuming that they buried him in a suit since he dressed like that in real life. But I really have no idea tho. I remember his mom said in her book that he was buried with his Bible. How sweet! Bless his dear heart...

I remember Kathy saying in an interview that Freddie had a pair of beat up old brown shoes that she absolutely hated. Then she added that he was buried in them.

I wonder if she did that out of sincere love because he liked the shoes or if it was just one last act of defiance?
That seems really odd to me that she would do that.

Thumbs down

I agree, chicosladyfair, that is an odd thing to do. Which interview are you refering to, croiter? I didn't know Kathy did any other interviews other than the E! special and I have seen that one so many times I practically have it memorized. Just curious, cause I didn't think she spoke much about Freddie! Thanks! BTW this is an interesting thread!

I'd love to see her interview. It would tell us more. Didn't know that about the shoes. I wonder if maybe she did it to seem like she was a loving wife & kinda cover up the fact they were in divorce proceedings...

I don't know about y'all but I would have thought twice about the beat up shoes. The only way I would have sent Freddie to the other side with those shoes on would have been if they held some kind of fond, sentimental value for him. If they had just been his kick-around shoes...then I think I would have opted for brand new ones. Maybe the shoes were a source of aggravation between the two of them and she just wanted to have the last word..LOL. Sort of a "since you loved these shoes so much...you can just spend eternity with them!" type thing. Who knows? I would love to read that interview though. I'm guessing it was from a news article and not on film as we would have probably scouted it down by now.
