Hey guys,
I have found an article on the movie Million Dollar Rip-Off. One of the interesting things I learned about this movie is that it was co-written by William Devane, the actor who used to be on Knots Landing. Anyway, this article gives details on casting and crew but no information on it's availability or how it can be purchased. Maybe someone else can find out more about it and let us know. Here's the link.. http://us.imdb.com/Title?0074903 |

Hi, ladyfair. I really don't know where you can find the movie, but I thought that you should know this: Freddie actually admitted that the movie was pretty bad. I recall reading that in an old interview. For the film's star to say that, it must be a less than impressive film.

Rob,
Thanks for the info. I'm sure it was a pretty bad movie. It would be nice to have just for collector's purposes, though. Do you happen to know what network that originally aired on? There are links to the networks that will search backlogs and make copies of movies...for a price of course. I aquired an interview with Freddie from ABC news archives...but don't know how to open it as it came as a zip file and it can't be opened through windows media player. Do you or anybody know how to open these kinds of files or how to change the format? I would be happy to share if I could open it.

I am certain that the network that originally aired the movie was NBC.
I read Freddie's comments on this. I am biased where he is concerned. He could just "sit, sip and stare", and I would be spellbound! ![]() I would not say the movie was bad. I liked it and I must say Freddie was fantastic in his first and only dramatic role. I keep checking the t.v. guide each week for them to air the movie again somewhere but to no avail. I keep hoping it will air again soon. I think most of you will enjoy the movie. Afterall, it is Freddie! ![]() |

Chicosladyfair, I wanted to find that file you found in the ABC news archives, but could not find it. I thought if I found it I could figure out how to open it. There is a lot of great stuff to download at download.com I know that ABC uses realplayer as it's audio/video player. Maybe you need to download that. Just go to realplayer.com It's free! Please share where you found the Freddie Prinze interview for ABC. Thanks

Luckymama,
I went to AskJeeves.com and asked where I could find printed news archives. It gave me several places but I went to JournalismNet or JNet and looked under Archives for U.S. and you can also go to Visual archives for U.S. Really, you just have to dig and surf your behind off to find this stuff. I can't remember the exact address of the interview I found but check NBC as well as CATM was filmed there. The place where I got the interview from won't release footage to the general public. You kinda have to fudge your way through that one. I had to tell them that I was doing a study on the effects of adolescence and adult behaviors due to teen suicide. So, you have to be creative in your searches.

I was looking at the info for million $$ ripoff and I clicked on Freddie's name for a bio, and it says his middle name is James. I thought it was Karl....Or am I mistaken?

Well, I guess that if Jr's middle name is James and not Karl...then he wouldn't be a Jr. now would he? I always wondered why Jr. was a Jr. when his name wasn't the same as his father's.

I have a copy of "The Million Dollar Ripoff". I taped it from WGN in Chicago about 7 years ago when they showed it at midnight one night.I paused the tape during commercials,so I've got an excellent, uninterrupted copy.Naturally,I really treasure it,since it's very rarely shown on TV.It's actually a pretty good movie, despite what Freddie himself said. It's a caper movie about an ingenious heist of a payroll from the Chicago Transit System (must've been why WGN showed it!)Freddie is an electronics genius and makeup expert who masterminds the heist with 4 gorgeous babes as accomplices.Lots of action scenes on the el trains. One good thing about this movie is that you get to see Freddie in makeup as a man of about 65 or 70,a sight we'll never get to see in real life, sadly.Allen Garfield is also in it.
If you get WGN on your cable system, keep an eye peeled for the movie. They may show it now and then because of the Chicago setting- maybe you could even e-mail a request to them. |

BK, you gave a very good synopsis and review of this cool film by "Our Prinze". Thank-you so much. I have seen it and agree with you. Especially about the make-up giving us a glimpse of what the future may have held.
