Default An 7th Season

If the show had a 7th season what do you think would happen?

I think Lucille Ball (who was in control of the show) would have tried to bring back Vivian Vance as well as add Lucie Arnaz (Lucille Ball's daughter) to the show. Lucie Arnaz would probably play the part of being the smart secretary to Mr. Mooney making Lucy Carmichael more vulnerable losing her job. Lucy and Dodie (Lucie Arnaz's character) would often get into contests to see who better at the job which eventually drive Mr. Mooney out of his mind. I think the role of Mary Jane Lewis would be no longer needed and the character would fade as the season progressed.

I don't know what a 7th season of TLS would be like but I just glad it didn't happen. It was the right decision to end the show and go on to create Here's Lucy. TLS had began to slip after season 3 with Viv's departure and by season 6 the show had run it course. The new plot and cast of Here's Lucy really improved things from the final 3 seasons of TLS. So I'm glad TLS ended and HL began.

Well, I like to think (as MANY sources and other people do) that Here's Lucy was simply a modified continuation of The Lucy Show. I know there's people who'll argue this, but basically the set-up was almost the same. She had a son and daughter, Gale Gordon, as well as Lucy, Mary Jane, etc still played basically the same part with a different name, she had basically the same job, lived & worked in California, etc...to further prove my point, at Universal Studios Hollywood, they have a Lucy Tribute section of the park, and there they have actual scripts from the shows and I noticed the Here's Lucy episode of "Lucy and the Great Airport Chase" was still called "The Lucy Show" on the script, and I did get a picture to prove it, so I wouldn't doubt if all the HL 1st season eps had TLS titles...my point is, in a way, The Lucy Show did have a 7th season, albeit a greatly modified, in terms of character names, one...

Yes, there were many similarities but there were differences as well. The last 3 seasons of TLS, Lucy's kids from the first 3 seasons were gone. In HL, Lucy had a new set of kids(her own) and they played a bigger role than the TLS kids played during the first 3 seasons of TLS. Lucie and Desi Jr. added that missing link from the last 3 seasons of TLS that made the TLS last 3 seasons dull and boring. Having children around gave the the Lucy character on HL a punch she was missing from the last 3 seasons of TLS. She now had a reason for living and a life. Her life the last 3 seasons of TLS was just a bunch of incidential meetings with stars. Yes, there were stars in HL quite often but the plot was set up for this to happen.

I agree that season seven was the first of Here's Lucy, she just changed the settings a little because when she sold Desilu to Paramount or rather Gulf and Western, it meant she had to have a whole new format, as they had bought the show! Although i LOVE the actors that portrayed the kids on the first three seasons of the Lucy show, i kinda wish she had given those parts to her own kids earlier on!
