Question Freddie on SNL

Does anybody know if Freddie ever hosted Saturday Night Live? I know that the show started way back in the early 70's and it seems like something that Freddie would have jumped at the chance to do.

I don't think he ever did. I think I have seen every SNL from the first few seasons, when Freddie would have been on if he had been. Boy would that have been great to see, though! He would have been fantastic on there. I know Jr. has been on SNL. Too bad dad never was...*sigh*

That's too bad. He would have been so great on there. He would have truly been in his element doing the opening monolog and he would have been hilarious in the skits...what a shame he never got the chance.

My husband got the 20th anniversary SNL coffee table book in a blind Christmas gift exchange with his friends a couple of years ago, and though we didn't pay much attention to it, as soon as it dawned upon me that Freddie's all-too-brief career coincided with SNL's early years, I headed into my husband's home office and dug the book out. Sadly, I could find no indication that Freddie had even been a guest! I couldn't imagine, since he was the very hot star of one of NBC's top shows!

And as for Jr. hosting, I saw that one on Comedy Central about a week ago. He was only in two sketches, but he had a chance to sing in both--once as the lead singer of a fictitious boy band and once as Enrique Eglesias on Charlie Rose! In that last one he actually looked hot to me (seeing as how I am a die-hard fan of his dad's and don't think Jr.'s looks measure up!), wearing black leather pants and a black shirt open to show off washboard abs! His voice isn't bad, but deeper than his dad's by quite a bit!

Thanks Mariposa for the info. You're right..it doesn't seem right that he wouldn't have been asked to host since he was an NBC employee and such a HOT star. All I can say is SNL lost out on something that would have been so great. They dropped the ball.
As for Jr. I haven't seen his appearance on the show. He is a very talented young man but...he's definitely NOT his daddy!
P.S. That was an extremely KOOL Christmas gift your hubby received!

Too bad he wasn't on there. He would've been a real hoot!

Thumbs up

I loved SNL (back in the early days, like 1975 thru 1985). My favorite host is Steve Martin.
Would've LOVED to see Freddie Sr. on there! He would've been great! I could just see him doing a skit acting all silly with a heavy Puerto-Rican accent....
The only time I watch any of the recent shows is if Freddie Jr. or Steve Martin hosts...

Freddie would have been great on SNL. You guys are reading my mind because I always could not figure out why he was never on there---being an NBC employee an all. Maybe he was too busy in Vegas. ???
