Default All in the Family onto Archie Bunker's Place onto In The Heat of the Night

This may be weird and some of u may or may not have noticed this:

Why does Carroll O'Connor's voice sound different in In The Heat Of The Night? In ITHOTN he sounds like Andy Griffith. And in All in the Family he sounds different, i mean, it wasn't THAT long after Archie Bunker's Place that he did In The Heat of the Night.

Maybe because of an accent? On AITF and ABP Carroll had a different kind of accent than the southern accent on ITHOTN

Jenny is correct. Incidentally, in everyday life, he didn't speak like either of those characters. That's why they call it "acting".

I must speak up again. Carroll made his southern accent sound pretty good. I feel like throwing up everytime I hear an actor/actress totally butchering up a southern accent. Yes, I realize most southern accents sound hickish (don't worry, I'm one of those hicks) but we don't sound as hickish as some of these actors and actresses make it seem.

- If I may go "alongside", if not actually "off", topic for a sec. -
For me there's nothing that makes me cringe like listening to an actor's accent fade in and out! One minute you have, say, Kevin Costner speaking with an English accent; the next minute he sounds like he's from Pittsburgh! (It's even worse in this example, since we already know Kevin's natural speaking voice.)

IMO, that's just a sign of either:
A.) poor acting [ ] or
B.) poor casting. [ + Hamlet = ]

Why go after a part that requires a skill that you lack and will probably result in public humiliation?
