Default Sophia makes me really mad sometimes

I know it's all in fun, and she's that way because it's her character and because it's supposed to generate a lot of laughs, but sometimes she does and says the most horrible things.

Like the time she told Dorothy, "Mrs. Petrillo to you" when there was the question about whether Dorothy was her biological daughter or not. Then there was the time she impersonated Charlie and told Rose not to wear Miles' friendship ring. Then she tells Dorothy all the time that Gloria was her favorite.

Then another time when in bed with Dorothy when those cops were trying to arrest the jewel theives next door, she tells Dorothy to get a good night's sleep...tomorrow could be her last day.

Like I said, I know it's all supposed to be funny and maybe I'm being too picky, but I think Sophia was so mean and I would hate to have to put up with someone like her (the character) in real life.

Blanche: I don't really mind Clayton being homosexual, I just don't like him dating men.

Blanche: There must be homosexuals who date women.
Sophia: Yeah, they're called lesbians.

I don't think the show would have been as funny without Sophia's blunt remarks. The writers really meant it when they said her stroke destroyed the part of her brain that censors what she says!

Yeah. At least the writers had the decency to explain why Sophia says the things she does because on most shows they don't even give a reason.

I think many of her remarks went a little too far, and if I had heard someone say what she said in real life i'd be pretty upset, but since it is just a show it never really bothered me much. I think Sophia's mean remarks also had alot to do with Dorothy sticking her in a nursing home for a couple years. I think that also had alot to do with why she was the way she was.

Sophia was also a hypocrite in alot of episodes.

For example, when they all go on the game show "grab that dough" and in the end sophia talks to dorothy about not letting greed overcome you and how money can be a terrable thing.

Well in like every episode sophia goes against those words!

40% of the humor is from Sophia. The show wouldn't have made it without her.

Estelle Getty's character Sophia was so funny on that show, she was hilarious to me & i don't think the show would've made it without her either. Was she funny in Sylvester Stallone's movie Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot? I heard the movie was horrible but i'm a Sylvester fan so i'll probably rent it later on.

I think the show most certainely would have survived without Estelle. Thank Goodness it didn't have to, since she is my favorite character. But anytime you have actors like Rue Mclanahan, Betty White, and Bea Arthur, it would be hard to imagine the show with the 3 of them not lasting. Estelle just made what would have been a strong show without her even stronger with her.

Yeah, Sophia can be a real bitch. Especially to Rose and Dorothy.

If I were Dorothy I'd make her stay in Shady Pines and not feel guilty. And if I were Rose, well, Rose can't help she's the world's biggest ditz!

Well I thought Dorothy was mean to Sophia a lot too. Every time Sophia said or did something she didn't like, she'd threaten to put her in Shady Pines eventhough she knew Sophia hated it.

Cool

Yeah, the show wouldn't have been successful without all 4 of them working together. I agree that sometimes they were mean to each other, but that's just a show to make it even more funny. I Love TGG Forever.

Maybe she's mean sometimes but at the end of the day she loves all the girls.
