Cool new in 2003 -- what are you archiving?

I can't wait, I just found out that new Dragnet show will have Al Bundy from Married with Children. Right on! I'm so going to tape that now!
And there's supposed to be a series coming where Christopher Titus plays a bounty hunter -- I've got to have that, too.
I haven't paid attention to a lot of what's coming out.
What are y'alls plans for stuff you dont want to miss?

Hmm. I'll mostly be taping classic stuff, and continuing on with what I'm taping now.

Sanford & Son

If TV Land airs "new" episodes
Archie Bunker's Place
Donna Reed Show
Father Knows Best
Burns & Allen

I may tape Get Smart.

Current stuff?
probably Dragnet as well. That new reality show with Mindy Cohn, Webster, and others. Can't remember the name.

That's just about it. I'll probably just keep taping what I do now (8 simple rules, hogan's heroes, etc.)

Because in 15 years they won't be modern prime time shows...they will be classics

Blanche: There must be homosexuals who date women.
Sophia: Yeah, they're called lesbians.

They may also be duds, never to be heard from again. And who wants to hang on to video tapes for 15 years? And as you all may or may not know, VHS tapes have a minimum life span of only 10 years...sorry, but I just don't get recording modern shows - if they're going to be such classics, some stations will surely be re-running them 15 years from now...

Cool

Well, as far as recording the new stuff, they could be very very good and still get canceled, like Max Bickford. A show could turn out to be incredibley sought after but unavailable as a legitimate release.
These turn out to be very valuable for trading. And if they are eventually rerun,
they might have scenes cut out or censored. (like many of our clasic favorites now)
This is maybe the main reason people like to collect and keep original broadcast copies. Plus in syndication, the music used is often changed and sometimes lines around it are blanked out or dubbed over badly to remove references to the music -- like Tiny Dancer on an ep of WKRP.
What a disaster!

Oh yeah-as far as video tapes only lasting so many years, the way I look at that is those dvd recorders will only be about 1/3rd the cost they are now in a couple years or so.Also Im pretty confident the cost of a single dvd will be less,so some day down the road,Ill be able to convert everything over to dvd,
