Default Soap vs. Mary Hartman

Which show was the better soap opera parody comedy, Soap or Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman?

I prefer MHMH. No offense to any fans of Soap, but I think MHMH is a lot funnier.

Soap

Laugh Track,Billy Crystal....'Nuff Said LOL!

Sorry but I just don't find MHMH very funny.I USED to like Fernwood2Nite when it was on N@N but no it annoys me but I do like "Forever Fernwood" from the 1 episode I saw of it on the Norman Lear marathon!

I like both pretty equally. They each have their own quirkiness that I find funny.

BUT

If I *had* to choose, it would probably be Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. I don't know exactly why, maybe because it's rarer than Soap (well, they're getting neck and neck in the rare department, LOL), I dunno. It just appeals to me a little more than Soap does.

Well, I'm not sure how to answer due to the way your question is worded. As I see it, there are 2 possibilities:

The better parody: Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman
It stayed within the recognizable soap opera format while satirizing it. Unfortunately, it was no more of a comedy than most soap operas. More effective than Valium. Dull, dull, DULL!

The better show: Soap
This show made me laugh out loud many times! Funny, funny, FUNNY!!

Both Shows had some interesting points and cliff-hangers that left viewers in suspense.

Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman dwelt with more serious issues, and thrilling plots along with more serious situations.

Soap had some very amusing lines from their cast along with a bit of comedy added to their show with some very interesting plot-lines.

Overall, I can't tell both Dramas were very alike and different, but if I was forced into picking one my choice would have to be Soap.
