Red face Jo was the least known of the 4 girls: Only 1/8 of FOL viewers knew NMK played as Jo.

jO WAS THE LEAST TALKED ABOUT CHARACTER OF THE FOUR GIRLS ON fol, SHE WAS ALSO THE LEAST WELL KNOWN OF THE FOUR CHARACTERS AS WELL, IN FACT WHEN OTHER SITCOMS TALK ABOUT FOL CHARACTERS TODAY, ONLY BLAIR, NATALIE AND TOOTIE ARE MENTIONED, ALONG WITH MRS. G, OF COURSE, BUT FOR SOME STRANGE REASON, JO NEVER GETS MENTIONED AT ALL.
AND ALSO, BARELY 1/8 OF ALL FOL VIEWERS EVER KNEW THAT NANCY MCKEON PLAYED AS JO, THEY ALL KNEW THAT KIM FIELDS PLAYED TOOTIE, MINDY COHN PLAYED NATALIE AND LISA WELCHEL PLAYED AS BLAIR, BUT DIDN'T KNOW THAT NANCY MCKEON PLAYED AS JO, MOST FOL VIEWERS MUST OF THOUGHT THAT SOMEONE ELSE PLAYED AS JO. AND THAT IS ACCORDING TO SOME TV POLLS, YA KNOW. ANY EXPLANATION TO THIS ALL, FOLKS?

I don't think I exactly believe it.

Of course Jo was not an original character, but I think she was one of the fan favorites. I don't think anyone talked about FOL without mentioning all four girls. They were an ensembled cast that worked well together.

As for why only the three are mentioned in interviews today, it is probably because Nancy doesn't really comment on her FOL days, as she has moved on and didn't repear in the reunion.

I can't help but think though that if someone were a TRUE FOL fan, they would know all four girls and the marvelous actresses who played them.

If you are a true fan you'll know exactly who played who. If you watched the show in the 80s but you weren't a true fan, you might not remember the names.

That is strickly your opinion, she may have not been in either the first season or the reunion, but she is one of the most known actress who played on The Facts of Life. The are all equally known for their rolls, and they all take part for their characters.

For Instance: One may not know what the show is all about but they still might have little information that could be possibly a rumor or an un-true statement. They may even have watched a few episodes and sometimes they judge the show based upon a couple episodes, paying no attention at all to the rest of the series. So they might not know everything there is to know about the series.

Nancy McKeon in The Facts of Life was the highlight of her career, if she wasn't on this show, she probably wouldn't be much of a big star like she is today.

I think she was noticed on The Facts of Life, and she was an popular cast-member on the show. If it weren't for her on The Facts of Life, the show may have been canceled after only the first season.

As much as I would LOVE that...no.

BTW...are you mad about that?? Cause...like...capital letters are hard to read.

I agree with most people though, if you really are a FAN, you'd know all the actresses and characters...some people are just morons.

If that's all true, you wouldn't guess it from all the posts on this board throughout the years. And all the user names of the people who come here. If she was the least known, why have so many people had the name "Jo" in their user names?

This is soooo true. The amount of people on this board with Jo or Nancy references in their user name is unbelievably high. And people with pics of Nancy in their avatar is pretty high too. Jo was one of the most loved characters on the show. the true fans know and love all the characters, and the actors behind the characters as well.

Exactly.

The only reason other sitcoms don't mention Jo is that it's such a common name. Tootie, Blair, and Mrs. Garrett are really unique names and not used in any other show so it's easy to know that they're from Facts. If they said, Jo was always my favorite instead of Tootie was always my favorite, people wouldn't get the joke. I don't give a damn about how Nancy is so popular and she rocks and she's awesome. Fact is that Jo isn't a memorable name, even though she was a memorable character.

Default not true

That is not true, Jo was the most popular character on FOL, the ratings after she joined the cast proved that plus even the E! True Hollywood Story said that Nancy McKeon was the most popular actress on the show. How many people are still famous today? Mostly just Nancy since she's on The Division and Kim Fields and the others haven't been doing much lately.

Just a few years ago, as late as 2000, I was guessing Jo was either played by Sandra Bullock or Winona Ryder or Neve Campbell, maybe cause when they all were younger they all looked like Jo.

Even Debra Joy Levine, the creater of The Division, at first before casting Nancy Mckeon as Jinny, thought Jo on FOL was played by another actress other than Nancy Mckeon. Maybe because there are other actresses that look so much like Jo, only older now. Example: Sandra Bullock, Winona Ryder, Neve Campbell, others whose name I dont know.

I dont agree with that fact either.

Did you just post that to see what kind of rise you would get out of every NMK fan here?

i have to disagree, Debra Joy Levine said that she knew that nancy was on the show she just didn't know that she was such as big of a star as she is. I think she is the best star because she is basically the only one still in show bussiness, yes Kim Fields is too, but she is behind the sences.
