Jerry did get sick of Kramer once and took back the key to his apartment. Kramer was so upset he moved to LA. However, Jerry realized he missed Kramer and went to visit him. I think you know the rest of the story.

If they had gotten rid of Kramer, the show would have lost too much humor, so we have to suspend disbelief that a sane person would put up with this maniac.
The crazy, pain in the neck buddy goes way back. Ed Norton on The Honeymooners, Howard on The Bob Newhart Show, Luther Van Dam on Coach, etc.

If I had gotten rid of every one in my life who has annoyed the crap out of me, I wouldn't have anyone to talk to.

In the real world, Jerry would have booted major mooch Kramer on day one.

I love Kramer. He's my fave character! so even if he did eat up all his food and bust open his apartment door on every episode, they still remained friends. 2 funny guys(plus another guy and girl who can really rack you up)= ONE FUNNY SHOW!

These characters are like cartoons, they never evolve through time, they always make the same mistakes, they never learn, this is imo why Seinfeld stands out among the rest of the shows. The way it is made is ingenious. Jerry is keeping Kramer around because Jerry is not the average you and me, Jerry does not exist in reality, he is more unreal than Donald duck is.... so is Kramer and the rest. If Jerry was the average guy, he would not have George as a friend to start with, being the most shallow, arrogant, self involved human being... George would have no friends in reality.

Lol

Well for one thing they were neighbors and in the course of 9 years, Kramer became a good friend. They went through a lot together. There were several moments on the series where Jerry expressed his friendship for Kramer. Remember when Joe Devola hit Kramer over the head (Yo-Yo Ma!) and the only thing that saved him was Newman's helmet? Jerry took Kramer to the doctor, although they didn't show the doctor's visit from what I remember.

And "The Butter Shave" where Kramer used butter and then went upstairs to "tan" on the roof. Jerry was up there in two seconds making sure Kramer didn't do anything stupid (although he was too late!)

I'm sure Jerry could have barged into Kramer's apartment and borrowed anything he wanted (but Kramer had all Jerry's stuff anyway! )

Why? Cause Jerry understands how Kosmo is. He is entertained by him. Jerry is rich so he doesn't care if Kramer steals food or whatever.

Kramer added the physical comedy to an otherwise cerebral discussion about the minutiae of everyday life where usually nothing happens to further the plot until the 2nd act.
Btw- how do you post a photo by your username?
