WHY did Happy Days go live? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Is it because they wanted a bigger audience? They wanted to capitalize on the Fonz? What do you think is the reason as to why they went live?

I read that they were losing in ratings to Good Times. Garry wanted something BIG. So, he made Winkler a co-star as the Fonz and let the audiences feed off the "Fonziemania". Going live was all part of getting better ratings.

I would have loved to sit in the audience and watch Happy Days eps being made!

Me too! Of course, I would have been the one with the suitcase, blanket, and pillow ready to just move into the studio. After hours, when everyone went home, I would live in the Cunningham's house. I would eventually get lonely, so I'd kidnap the actors and make them pretend to be Fonzie, Marion, Howard, Joanie, Richie, Ralph, and Potsie. We would spend the rest of our lives as the Happy Days characters. Eventually, Henry Winkler (now, Arthur Fonzarelli) would stop thinking of me as a derranged lunatic and fall madly in love with me. We would marry and have three kids.

Can i help!!! I'll help you trap them and I'll threaten Potsie until he agrees to marry me! And then I'd have Richie and Ralph do the whole "doo wop" wedding theme and Fonzie can be my best man and Mr. C can be the priest and everyone (including you CollegeGirl) can be my bridesmaids! Eventually, the National Guard will come and save them though so we better make the best of our short marriages!

I think that sounds like a perfect plan! But, by the time the National Guards gets there, we'll already have everyone brainwashed that they actually are the characters that they played. And there's no way that the National Guards can stand up to the the powers of the Fonz, Potsie, Richie, and Ralph combined. Afterwards, we will sit down for lunch and discuss our plans for overthrowing the world and setting up total domination of it. Muwahahahahaahaaaaaaa!!!!!!

Oh, this is going to be so cool! We'll force everyone to wear '50s style clothing. We'll only play songs from Arnold's old jukebox. We'll spend the rest of our lives nestled in our guys' arms.

*LOL* LB in the closet! Well, I always did think she and Chuck would be perfect together. Now, Chuck doesn't have to be alone anymore. They can start their own little world in the closet. Of course, Ashley and Pinky are in there too. No way am I going to give them a chance to steal Fonzie away! *LOL*
