why did marion's mother, mother kelp never like howard.

Mother Kelp prb didn't like Howard because he married her daughter. You know how parents get about their children...hee hee

Because its a sitcom rule, All Mother In Laws HAVE to hate the man their daughter married. Their are a few exceptions to the rule, but yeah...

There was one episode, in the final season, where Marion and Joanie are talking about why Mother Kelp is so cruel. Something is said that Mother Kelp feels that she was pushed aside and that she no longer feels that her baby girl needs her since she is now a wife and mother. I guess Mother Kelp felt slighted that Howard came and took Marion away from her. Wasn't Marion an only child?

yup, Marion had no brothers and sisters I think. I'm sure cousins appeared out of nowhere on the show, but we'll assume they're second cousins.

marion's mother, mother kelp should have liked howard because marion was happy with him she loved howard very much and he loved her very much. so her mother should have been happy because she was happy.
