Did anyone notice in the first season that Eddie isn't fully grown yet? He is older than Wally, but Wally is taller than him and his voice was starting to change but Eddie's wasn't. It hadn't started to change until the 2nd season.

Yup, you are right. Also the Beaver matures at an earlier age. Wally is 12/13 at the start of the show and still has that boyish look to him and that squeaky voice. In the last season, Beaver is 12/13 and his voice is fully changed and is taller and more manly looking than Wally was at the same age.

I think the reason Beaver seemed more mature was because Jerry was a 14 year old playing a 13 year old, while Tony was a 12 year old playing a 13 year old. I think Eddie was a late bloomer was because he was so skinny, but then later, he shot up. And of course, genetics effects things as well.
One thing that makes me mad about the show in the later seasons is that it seemed like they hired only really tall actors to play the adult roles. If you notice, all the teachers and fathers tower over the boys, which isn't realistic. It seems like the only one they allowed to be shorter than the kids was Mrs. Rayburn. For some reason, this just bugs me, like how they made June wear heels so she could look taller than the boys. I just think its silly, they shouldn't have to manipulate height. There are a couple of scenes where Wally or Eddie is standing next to June, and she's shorter, and there's nothing wrong with that. Its more realistic. |

Tony Dow and Jerry Mathers are three years apart in age in real life. While Tony played his real age throughout the series (12 to 18 years old), Jerry played two years younger than his real age (Jerry aged from 9 to 15 years old while "Beaver" aged from 7 to 13).
Ken Osmond and Frank Bank, who played Eddie and Lumpy respectively, were both older than Tony Dow in real life -- Ken was two years older and Frank three.

I never liked Eddie Haskell in the earlier episodes. Whiny voice.
