In the early episodes, Eddie's father is named George. In the episode where Eddie spends the night, his father is named Frank. Does anyone know the story behind this?

It's hard to say why some shows do this, but sometimes characters have name changes. Like on 'The Andy Griffith Show' Goober was Goober Beasley in the first few eps he was on, and then they changed his named to Goober Pyle.
I guess different writers come in and they can't remember the name of a minor character that only shows up for a couple of episodes and they don't have time to go back and look for the old name and so they just change the name to save time. Just my guess |

Well, when LITB went to the new network, a lot of things changed, this was one of the many.

In later episodes, I recall the one where Eddie wants to spend summer in Alaska on that fishing boat, his father is named "George" as well.

In Voodoo Curse, his father is George, and played by Karl Swenson.

KarL Swenson also was George Haskell in the episode where Beaver and Wally take the train home and make up the story why they can't pay their fare. Ward fell out of plane and they live in a poor house. George comes with knitting for June.,

In the ep where the kids join the Boy Scouts Eddie gives his name as "Edward Clark Haskell Jr." which would give me the impression that his fathers name was Edward.

The first George Haskell was Karl Swenson. Later, he was played by George Petrie. In "Eddie Spends the Night", his father is Frank, and played by John Alvin.

He played Lars Henson on "Little House on the Prairie" and the voice of the wizard Merlin on the Disney cartoon "The Sword in the Stone".
