I don't normally watch this show, but I was board Monday night so I watched. That two-parter about life w/o Edith was SO sad, I actually cried.
What a great episode!

Last night was crying night for me. They did that episode so beautifully and I say it's the best eps that I've seen of ABP.

I agree, I think it had to definately one of the saddest episodes in television history, everything was just very well-planned out, and it all fit together, the plot was very powerful and the characters from the two-part episode had played some of their best performances.

Without a doubt, one of the most important scenes in the history of that show.
That scene proved what amazing things Carrol O'Connor could do as an actor. He really brought so many dimensions to a character that was originally thought of as just a loudmouth bigot. I cried when I saw that episode when it first aired. Now I'm going to cry again, becasue i just realized how old I am.

I saw it again today for the first time in over 20 years. What a heartbreaker. Carroll O'Connor was superb, and even Stephanie, who I never cared for otherwise, was excellent. One of the all-time best TV episodes.
