I'm reading a book called "A Lefty's Legacy" about Sandy Koufax. I grew up as a Dodger fan, and Sandy Koufax and Maury Wills were my favorite players. I listened to Vin Scully and Jerry Doggett announcing every pitch on the radio of Sandy Koufax' Perfect Game against the Chicago Cubs in 1965. Sandy Koufax, in my opinion, is the best pitcher of all time. His heyday was short compared to, say, Whitey Ford's, but still, I think Sandy perfected the art of pitching a baseball beyond anyone before or since.

He also had his principles, I remember he wouldn't pitch if it presented a conflict with his religion which was Jewish.

I wouldn't exactly call him the greatest pitcher of all time,but he was definitely up in the top 10.

In the last five years of Koufax' career, 1962 to'66, he led the majors in every pitching category: wins (111), ERA (1.95), winning percentage (.766), strikeouts (1,444), shutouts (33), and no-hitters (4).He won the Cy Young award three times. And at that time only one Cy Young trophy was awarded each year instead of one for the American League and one for the National League like it is now. He twice won the World Series MVP and was named Player of the Decade.
Willie Mays said, "For him to do all those things in five years, what guys take twenty years to do, that's remarkable."
Bob Feller, another all time great pitcher, said, "He [Koufax] is the best pitcher I ever saw in my lifetime."
