Default The Lucy Show

Why does TVland not buy the rights to "The Lucy Show"? I mean it is a classic? Isn't IT?

Most people, aside from the die-hard fans, would rather see the far superior "I Love Lucy", and TV Land knows this.

I always thought it was more a question of them totally milking ILL for all it was worth before doing the same thing to the Lucy show!

Yes, but TV GUY, there's not rule that TV Land can't show more than one Lucille Ball series. They can certainly show both. Nick at Nite did from 1992-1996. Heck, they can show Here's Lucy too and I wish they would. As far as far superior goes, I would say that ILL is far superior to ALL of TLS. Have you ever saw seasons 1-3 of TLS, especially season 1.

True, they can. BUT according to Host TVL TheLink, one Lucille Ball series is plenty and by adding another one won't do any good for the network because they already have the main Lucy audience.
I think that is a bunch of bull because they show two series that feature Mary Tyler Moore (Mary Tyler Moore, The Dick Van Dyke Show) and even the character of Archie Bunker (Archie Bunker's Place, All in the Family). On top of that, they will be soon airing Mayberry R.F.D. which features some of the cast if not all of The Andy Griffith Show. So if they can air those, I don't see why they can't air The Lucy Show. At this rate, TV Land is totally playing favorites.

Not exactly. The Lucy Show made its debut on Nick-at-Nite in 1992 and left in 1996. Nick at Nite only aired one Lucy series during the years of 1992, 1993, and part of 1994. I Love Lucy and The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour made their debuts in 1994. Between the years of 1994 and 1996, Nick-at-Nite aired three Lucille Ball series as regulars.

I disagree. I Love Lucy is not superior to all of The Lucy Show. The first three seasons of TLS were good and held up strong while the first season of ILL lacked a bit.

I meant ILL and TLS as a whole. Yes, I agree with you, the first 3 seasons can hold their own with ILL especially the 1st season that was filled with so many classics. I too don't think the 1st season of ILL was all that great at least not the first 2/3 of it.
